    Help my wife. Please. :)

2010 A4 Premium (purchased as a CPO in 2013) with AMI issues. Here are the facts:

    1. Her old iPhone 4 was at no point recognized by AMI. Plugged into the AMI adapter in the glove box, selecting "Media" on the MMI would get "There are no playable tracks on the device".

    2. My old IPhone 4 worked just fine. Daughter's iPhone 5c also - just fine.

    3. Her phone worked in my 2013 Ford Escape (MyFordTouch)

    4. She upgraded to an iPhone 6S. It doesn't work either (and now with a 30 pin to Lightning adapter on the AMI cable, of course).

    5. I just got a 6S. Yep - works just fine.

    6. I take her 6S and put in in my (new) 2015 A3. Yep. Works just fine.

So the bottom line is that she has had 2 successive iPhones which won't play music in her A4 but will play it in any other car, and anyone else's iPhones work just fine in her A4.

I'm betting it has something to do with her phone's settings.

Which is kinda what I thought, too. We just compared settings, since we now have the same phone, and couldn't find any differences. Also, there's #6 - her phone DOES work in my '15 A3. So if it's a setting on the phone somewhere that's different, the A3 (MMI with Nav) doesn't care.

Sounds like a problem with the phones software. I assume you powered down the phone and turned it back on?

Again - this is the second phone she's had, over the 3 years that she's had the car, that doesn't work. And yes, they've both been powered off/on repeatedly over time. Also, #6. :)

Does it charge the phone when plugged in?

Yep. And Bluetooth telephone functions all work appropriately. The only thing that's abnormal is when you hit the "Media" button on the MMI to select the iPhone as a media source.

May not be the case but my wife's T3 Touareg had somewhat of an issue, turned out to be too many mobiles were paired. Do you have a VCDS you could run that or that Carista app. Reset the MMI completely and try to pair only her phone.

    The problem has been solved.

As it turns out, it WAS a single setting on her iPhone. When I disabled "Sound Check", her MMI was able to read and play her music library through the AMI.

Weird, you wouldn't think that a setting like sound check would mess anything up. Glad you figured it out though.
