What are everyone's thoughts on a 996tt? I know the Porsche diehards aren't big fans, but I have always liked the look and they seem to be pretty bulletproof cars.
Hence why I said supercharge the b7. It's a life changing experience. Without the blower they are still fun cars but completely gutless in the bottom end. Boost is instant, power is still linear but with globs more torque in the bottom end. Plus the b7rs4 interior is arguably one of the nicest Audi has done. The RS4 is almost like the Porsche gt3 equivalent just weighs a ton more.
You also can go wrong with a pcar. My dad has owned a few over the years, 996t, 997c4s, and a 996 c2s. He still has the c2s, it's slow in a straight line but has all the right suspension mods to make it handle beautifully. Completely destroys my s4 in the twistys, and I have just about every suspension mod you could do to a b5 besides an LSD. If you can swing a turbo or gt3 do that instead, but pcars also come with their own set of problems.
The NA 3.6 and 3.8 used in the carrera's are notorious for IMS failures. The mezger gt1 engine used in the 996T and 997t up to 08 was damn near bullet proof. They had some cooling system issues, like a fitting that fails on the back side of the engine dumping all the coolant on the rear tires at the track. Not fun. Seen it happen a couple times. They used the same block in the 996 and 997 gt3's, just with different internals as they are obviously NA.
