Automatic to Manual Transmission Swap, 2.0T B8 A4 Avant

    Hi Folks,

I have a bit of a sportwagon addiction and sadly they are no longer available in the USA with 6MT; therefore I would like to thoroughly gather the necessary info to validate the possibility of a 'swap' in this thread.

My Avant is a 2010 with 2.0T (S-line, Prestige) and I have a line on a good (used) MRR code manual transmission, shift linkage, and clutch pedals from a 2012 S-line Sedan.

I am not certain if mechanically, the MRR trans will be able to couple to my engine/crankshaft as-is, or a different crank interface was used on Automatic builds?

Also, after speaking with Ross-Tech, it seems as though every computer module in the car would need to be swapped; unlike previous generations we can no longer key-in the various transmission codes. This has me hunting for the following computer modules for the listed reasons/assumptions (please help me confirm/deny, as well as add anything i may have forgotten):

    - KESSY (in 6MT cars it looks for clutch position?)
    - Instrument Cluster (didn't understand why)
    - ABS Module (is this also because of clutch position?)
    - ECU (didn't understand why)
    - Omit Automatic's TCU? (does the 6MT have its own TCU?)

I am also not sure where the VIN lives inside any of these modules.... and if it does would need to be dealer re-programmed?

Please weigh in with feasibility; it would be great to get this understood for the Audizine community as I have seen it done before on prior generations be never a B8 ?!

    Thanks.
Here is a pic of the unmodified car:

Did OP ever go through with this project?

I am pretty sure he did, but double check the avants only section.

this project was completed with a donor car and a team at AV Auto Worx in Delaware. i still have one code to work out with regard to the clutch position sensing.

the parts list is about $3k and it's about 40hrs of labor... you do the math

I bought a smashed 2014 S5 that is missing engine, and the automatic transmission. I tore apart my 2010 Audi A5 Premium with manual transmission in order to swap the 3 zone AC unit,MMI, backup sensors, blind spot radars, engine noise actuator, drive select button, BCM1, BCM2, Kessy,Back up camera and auto dimming mirrors. I ran into a transmission, oil prressure feedback and a servotronic steering rack compatibility issues. Facelift cars dont use servotronic, therefore the PINS are missing in the BCM1 module. gear selector switch for forward and reverse also missing the pins in the BCM1. Oil pressure switch also missing the PINs.
The AC unit is going to work, did not try it yet,but in case anyone is planning to do the 3 zone Unit, make sure to have the AC 3 zone ready which means it should have three chambers inside, two more sensors, rear rear/cool control, air quality sensor, and garage door opener connected to the purple wire in the bcm 16 pins connector and ducts.
I will start adding picture and more information next week

The top and the bottom photos would be my 2010 audi a5 premium and the middle photo would be the 2014 s5. I already changed the AC unit and routed all the wires for all the extra modules that i added.

    hello everyone,

iam stuck right now trying to figure out what J519 to use. all the parts installed in my car came off 2014 audi S5 premium plus with an automatic transmission. My car is manual transmission and now the reverse wont toggle the back up camera. the reason is that the J519 from automatic transmission car dont have the PIN 13 and PIN 21 in the T32b connector. for manual transmission the switch F208 send the signal to the J519 PIN 13 AND 21 to trigger the camera.
the J519 from automatic car is different, when you apply reverse the transmission J217 module communicate the reverse signal to the r est of the module. Log story short PIN 13 AND 21 are missing from the J519 that i have now because it came from automatic car. the part number that i have right now is 8K0907063DH.

would any one please find me the correct J519 number from 2013 - 2016 Audi A4 S4 A5 S5 with manual transmission please.

    thank you

why can’t you just pin to pin from F208 to J519, populate the missing pins in your J519?

Well, pin 13 and 21 are not soldered in J519 itself. F208 to the J519 wires are routed, but the J519 missing both needed pins. the PDF manual mentioned that BCM1 from Auto wont support the reverse function for a manual transmission car. I also called a dealership and i gave him a VIN number for a manual car and i asked him if he can look up the last two digits of the J519but he refused to help no clue why.
