TTS Engine Whine in 1st gear manual mode

Hi Everyone - new to the forum. Purchased an '09 TTS about 5 months ago and have been loving it.

A few days ago I noticed a whine coming from the engine that is much louder than the turbo spool. It seems to only occur loudly when in manual mode and specifically in 1st gear. Right around 3k rpm, it'll start and get louder as RPMs go up. No other gear has the sound and haven't noticed anything else funky with the transmission.

Has anyone else had this happen?

Is the AC on? I noticed my compressor is getting louder than I remember. If on. Try turning AC off and see what it sounds like.

Thanks for the tip, S4iowa. It turned out to be the mechanical fuel pump - currently being replaced by my mechanic.
