hey guys, i am fairly sure i know what i need to do, but figured i would make a record here of it also. my 2003 A6 had problems with the drivers door lock not latching all the way and i replaced it with a used assembly off a newer allroad. it worked fine for a bit but one day as i was sitting at a red light the interior lights start pulsing.

the only codes i get are these (i know my right rear door latch is going bad too because it doesnt set the interior lights on when i open it nor show it on the dash that the door is open, but i havent messed with it).

    01559 - Drivers Door 58-10 - Can't Lock - intermittent
    01562 - Rear Right Door 59-10 - Can't Unlock - intermittent

a new driver door latch is 364$, but that is where i am headed i feel like.

at this point the driver door sensor is always reporting the door as open and interior lights stay always on and there is an annoying beep sound for first 30 sec while driving the car, thanks for the audiworld link i will try the quick fix, i am not so sure i want to take the time to take apart the door switch though, at that point i'd rather replace it.

    cheers

yah removing the latch is no problem since ive done it a couple times already but i am getting to a point where messing with used latches is not worth it. i fixed the annoying beep signal by cutting the blue wire on the door microswitch that's accessible by popping the door card back. now my driver door simply doesn't register opening the door, beats having the lights on and the annoying beep though.

i will investigate if i can do the easy fix of routing the blue wire from microswitch to door harness or if i need to replace the whole thing.

    cheers
