    lease almost ending..opinions please

well my lease on my 13 s4 will be ending at the end of 2/16..I have been debating what to do. Payout will be about 33K.

Although I have not had any particular issues with the vehicle except for standard maintenance, it is still under warranty but for only a bit longer.

Not sure if I should keep it or look for something comparable in the same payoff price range

Vote for something new, unless you have positive equity, which would make it worth the buy and roll profit into next vehicle or pocket after selling. Do you daily the S4 or the M5?

IMO, there isnt much out there in that price range thats gonna be better. i see you are in cali so not sure if you need awd or not? that will play a big part on what kind of options are available for different cars...

ultimately you are gonna have to think about what you want or if you think the grass is greener over yonder, your post is kinda vague.

My opinion is if the car was good to you for three years you got o good one. I have a 13 and knock on wood smooth sailing. With that I love my car and for 33k to buy this car (if no problems) is a good buy. And if Ina year or two you want to sale it then what have you lost?

If there is nothing wrong with your car, and you don't have an itch for something newer then maybe you should stick with it. Depending on your state laws you may have already paid ALL the sales tax on this car already. It will likely be the best deal you will get; verify by looking at black book and blue book car values and check if you need to pay taxes as well.

Best of luck in your decision!

What would you look at around 33K that would be comparable?

If you want to stick with an S4. Maybe you can flip it into a good lease for a 16 S4 if the numbers work. Or just buy it out right. That's stating that you like the car a lot. Im on the fence about the new S4. I don't know if I like it or not yet. I want to see a final product for the US before I make and decisions. But I have until December of 2017 to make that choice with my lease. But as of right now I plan to buy mine outright sooner than lease end. I will make that decision come this summer when all official data is release for the new S4.

The Golf R starts around $36k and is probably the only comparable option if you are looking for a new car.

When I do the numbers, my buyout is about 33K and KBB says that if I sold it to a private party, it would go for about 37K. By lease end I will have about 21-22K miles on it. So, I guess it boils down to what else can give me the same performance for the same amount of money. I do like the car but I also like to change from time to time. I bought an 06M5 in 09 and had it for about 4+ years then sold it since the maintenance was getting out of control and picked up the s4. Not sure if I can get something comparable with the same performance and nearly same price point new or used.

On my 3rd B8 S4 since I can not find anything I like or want more. Something to consider is trading the car in rather than just giving it back. Dealer will probably only give you wholesale value. BUT, dealer will probably make more money selling your used car than they will make on a new one. That being the case, you are more likely to get a better deal on a new car than if you had no trade. If there is nothing newer or better that you like, keep the S4
