The promotion includes 10% off MSRP* for a 91 or 93 octane performance flash on all Volkswagen, Audi and some Porsche models. A la carte switching products** (not already packaged with pump software) can be purchased at 20% off MSRP.

All of GIAC's software offerings for VW/Audi are installed via OBD2 port flash methods, except for the Audi R8 V10 and TTRS 2.5T. Most Porsche cars can be OBD flashed with the exception of 997.1TT (engine and transmission), 997.2 3.8L GT3/GT3RS and Boxster /Cayman 2.9L calibrations, which must be bench flashed.

I apologize I am not completely versed in your cost structure but for the $1080 do you get all the maps or just one? I was wondering what the cost is to get the program switcher, a 93 map and a race map?

Software pricing is bundled into the AWE Tuning the AWE Pulley kit. Any sale pricing would be reflected on their website.

Yes, I bought the pulley used. It did come in the AWE packaging so its not a forgery as far as I know :)

So my local GIAC dealer quoted me $1200 (I guess they are unaware of the Holiday pricing)... plus $150 for labor, plus $150 for the handheld... plus $75 for each program loaded on the handheld.

Is that correct? Seems STEEP!!!!!

There is little to no cost involved with a port flash. One tuner could own the market by providing a reasonably priced and reliable tune.

Development to get where we are now on the S4 was extremely steep. This ECU was significantly more secure than the other options that you're looking at. There is little cost involved in flashing an ECU when flash tools are bought from someone else who has already done the leg work. But that can be extremely limited in terms of knowledge as a tuner is limited to what their mapping tool can find/access (not to mention the tuner has no prior knowledge of the ECUs program and how it flows). When you're the one taking every facet of the the ECU apart, costs can be pretty lofty. Doing so requires thousands of man hours and in some cases quite a few ECUs to sacrifice. To add to that, tuning the 3.0T to make maximum power everywhere, and play nicely with the DSG (a vast majority of the vehicles offered), goes well beyond just maps.
