Question Maestro and cluster swap questions

Since Maestro is capable of disabling immobilizer, on cars with Maestro suite, is it possible to simply swap RB4 clusters and change mileage with VAGCOM if the "new" cluster's mileage is lower?

I'm looking to swap an S4 cluster into my B6 A4, so I'm wondering if it's possible without reading SKC, writing EEPROM files etc. if the car's immo is defeated. My current cluster is a standard US cluster with MPH speedo. The "new" S4 cluster would be with a KPH speedo (so the scale is different).

I guess some other tool would still be needed to adjust the cluster's speedo scale etc., correct? :(

I know I can just send both clusters to speedosolutions, but for us Canucks, the current exchange rate would make this ~CAD$500 adventure ($300 for the service, $200 for a used cluster) plus not being able to drive the car for at least a week.

The cluster may shut the car down, or not start, since the key wouldn't match the new cluster's immobilizer. Also, you can't change mileage with VCDS unless the cluster is "virgin" or <50 miles, even if you're increasing the mileage/km from what the current one is at.

Ah OK. From my reading, something like a VAGTacho is sure to brick the cluster, so I will have to find another way and hopefully someone local who knows what they are doing.

    Hi eljay

I managed to virginize a RB4 cluster with color DIS with a blue cable and a program called VAGeepromprogramer 1.19g

Then swapped and recoded it with vcds into my B6...

Wasn't easy but possible if clusters are compatible

    0. find new cluster PIN
    1. virginize with VAGeepromprogramer
    2. swap cluster with VCDS
    3. recode keys
    4. drive and enjoy....
