tip to 6 speed question... (not in wiki)

    Hey guys,

Not sure if the answer to this is floating around anywhere, but I've searched and looked at the wiki and cant find anything.

I know most people that do the swap retain the tip engine harness, however I removed mine and swapped in a 6 speed harness from the donor vehicle.

On the swap wiki step 3 it states the following:

Reverse Light, 2 wire connector on Transmission Right Side
    1. Buy/make a harness using 2-pin connector
    2. Run the harness up to grommet in the firewall next to O2 sensor brackets, and through the firewall to the ECU Box grommet
    3. Left A-Pillar Brown connector Pin 8 Blue/Red wire, cut-off old lead and splice-in new wire to Reverse Sensor
Since the harness is from a 6 speed and already has the 2 pin connector integrated, do I still need to modify connector pin 8, or do I leave it alone? The verbage from step 3 is kind of confusing.

As a side note, does the pics on the 6 speed wiki load for anyone (http://s4wiki.com/wiki/Tip_To_6spd_Conversion)? I can't seem to view them at all :(

    TIA <3

You will have to look at the wiring diagrams for both cars. The dash harness are different between auto and manual so it's not just plug and play. There is at least one connector you need to rewire.

Looks like i'll have to bust out alldata, lol. Was hoping to avoid that.

The logic between the reverse light is pretty straightforward no? One line is grounded, the other waits for a 12V signal from the sensor in the trans when shifted to reverse? When the circuit is complete it gets the reverse lights going?

I don't know the answer to this question, but Scotty with advanced would. I've been talking with him about the swap and he knows his stuff for sure. maybe reach out to him. he also sells an inexpensive, simple harness that addresses most of the wiring needed.

Yeah I've seen the harness. I'm just trying to do it without it, but when I asked him he just told me to buy the harness... don't really blame him as I'm not purchasing a product from him (although I have purchased a trans rebuild kit a year ago). I just have a hard time purchasing a harness that is made from a common injector plug and an icm plug, would rather reuse the complete un-hacked up harness I have.

At the end of the day business is business. Back to alldata and finding pin-outs.
