Looks like JT Automotive is closed now. I've had good experiences with Sonoma Autowerks, though it's a long drive for me in Vallejo.

    JT closed and left California.

I now go to JHM for any repair services that I don't do myself. It's proven to be worth it for the drive/tow because it saves a ton of money and time in the long run. The car always leaves JHM with everything fixed correctly, and the problem doesn't come back shortly after leaving which happens often at less knowledgeable repair shops.

I see shops listed in post #1 are in the Bay Area. Anything more in-land (ex. Sacramento)? I need the intercoolers replaced on my b8.5 SQ5. An indy shop near me is quoting $2,300 not including the initial diagnostic fee of $200.

Anyone have a shop that they recommend that is in SF or close by? Looking for a place to help diagnose, not sure if I should go to an Audi service center first and then take the recommendations to the independent shops.

I know they are not in SF, but seconding two shops noted above:

Precision Motorwprks in Santa Clara has a good reputation and was recommended to me for work both by my dealer and 034. I had some estimates for work that I didn’t not move forward with and felt the pricing was very fair.

Burlingame Independent is a small shop which I have used one for suspension work and they were fine.

Thanks! I had Burlingame Independent on my list since that was the closetst for me being in the city. If I was going to Precision Motorworks, I was thinking I'd might as well go 034 since they also have a shop in SJ now.

Hard pass on 034 unless you like being hosed, upsold, ignored, and put on a waiting list. Even mid-repair if something unexpected pops up, you go to the back of the line and your car sits in the parking lot.

It's pretty much the 034 stereotype, that to get any sort of attention from customer service, you have to blow them up on social media first.

Recently found a great independent mechanic, Nate (707-318-1571), out in Petulama who used to work at Griffen Motorwerke. Great dude with his own lift. Pricing is quite good for quality work (DM me for what I paid).

I've had him install 034 pads, rotors, CETE, HFC, FMIC and he takes the time / care to do it right (e.g. sanding and lubing the hub for rotors, cleaning brake pad retaining clips, hand torquing every bolt, etc).

You can mention I referred you.

I've had great experience with an old Audi Indy shop -- Advance Autowerks on Valencia @25th. Zach has been serving Audi community for many years - Professional and honest shop!
    Earthly prices with solid experience.
Actually found him first perusing 15 y/o posts, when he was at the different address.
    Highly recommend!

Tell him Sergei w/Q7 send you. ;)
