    Mesh grill

I'm looking to get a mesh grill. On the ones that have the rs6 symbol is that removable? I see them with it on and with it not, I just want to make sure they are cause I don't want to have to keep it on

Depends on the grill, but the good ones are removable. I'd check with the supplier.

ecs sells the grille without the badge, but it's not compatible with the front cameras, you might have to modify the grille to fit the camera. you will have to add your own badge as well.

here are the links for the c7 prefacelift a/s6, i believe the c7.5 grille is different.

Agreed. But we would have to paint the silver impact bar behind the grille right? Wonder what models this fits MY 16' A7???

Never mind up to 2o15 models.

Anyone have ALP installed with a honeycomb grill? Where do the sensors go?

I have 4 ALP heads ready to install, thinking about going into the grill. I know a couple S6's that have put the heads below, though, and they seem to be working well enough, so I may forego that... not sure yet.
Here's mine (installed prior to me purchasing). I love the look.

Somewhat off topic........I love this look and am thinking about one, too. But wondering how hard is it to clean all those cells? Or does a wash mitt get in the cells with no hassle?

alp heads cover a 3 foot circle each. You have to put them so the 3 foot circles cover as much of the front of the car as possible. Properly placed, 2 heads will cover the whole front end. If you put them on the bottom, this will not be the case.

Thanks for the info and agreed.

I had the same dilemma with my 4-head LI install on my RS4. They should go in the mesh grill...but I lived 3+ years with them in my fog grills, and had several saves / no pullovers or tickets. It's the balance between making sure you have as close to 100% of the scenarios covered and still having a car that you like looking at.

I think with the grill being deep black, I'll have a good chance of the heads not looking too out of place within it. I'm thinking the row above the S6 emblem is likely the right spot, and there looks to be a horizontal mounting surface at about that level, too.

When you say within, you're meaning BEHIND right? As is, mine are currently flush with the grill... one centered and low and two on the sides and around ring(s) height. Would be awesome if they fit inside of one of the honeycombs, but they look just a little too small for that. I'd assume the radius would be somewhat affected being actually behind the mesh.

Good info about them covering a 3 foot circle, Dennis. Didn't know that.

No, I wouldn't hide them behind as I know that would greatly reduce their effectiveness. I'll be looking how best to cut some of the grill to make it look as integrated as possible. Those will be some nervous dremel moments :)

Here is where the Alp guy told me to put them for the best coverage.

That's where I have mine and added a third center and lower (I got the sensors for cost so said WTH on the third-- two in the back)... but I think the only answer with a mesh grill would be like S4per said... get out the dremel.

I don't have a mesh grill, but was thinking of getting one. Already have ALP installed though.

Thanks for the pic! I'll take a look this weekend and see what I can do to mount there. Guess it'd be using mounting brackets now vs direct attachment to the piece I saw above the emblem.

We actually do not offer any specific discounts as we try to price our products as competitive as possible so everyone can take advantage of the same savings.

    Never hurts to ask though!

FYI, here's what I'm thinking of the mounting locations:

Would cut grill in those spots and likely mount via included brackets onto the impact bar.

Tony/Dennis - - do you have pics of your rear install? The trunk lip (where handle is to open) is quite a bit different from the RS4 which was perfectly straight underneath making it easy to mount. Curious how / where yours were installed. Also - - - did you go through license plate lights for cables or other, and finally - what route did you take for cables to go into main cabin?

    Thanks,
    Per

I had CarTunes here in town do the installation and they're widely known as the guys to go to in Atlanta. He said doing the rears was a lot harder than they thought on the 7.5 and was different than some of the other Audi's they've done. I can't see any wires when I pop the trunk so I'm not exactly sure how they did it, but could maybe try and find out.

Thanks for the details, and looking good!
I'm guessing for the rears the cables went in squeezed between the tail lights and the trunk itself. Are you able to see them disappear there at all? Thought I heard someone say it's possible to squeeze them there, not sure if I'd need to do any cutting at all. Hoping not!
