Trust me. Mines the quietest one with best performance....

I've had three on this car including my MTM (GHL & APR) and I've heard most others. MTM is the ONE.

It's all too subjective though. What's quiet to one is noisy to another. Some people don't mind the noise/sound. Attend some gtg's, or meet up with others to have a listen. That's the best way. Some people (myself included) go through a lot of BS to get the right exhaust system for this car. There's more to consider on top of noise/sound also; fitment, build quality/finish,..etc. MTM is tops in every way, but comes at a premium - price.

while I agree with A4NCAR that MTM is the best in both performance, quality and sound, i would have to say that not a lot of people are going to spend $1,870 on an exhaust that doesnt even come with a downpipe(an additional $1000). Another thing is that it looks way to stock to tell the difference, which is a good and bad thing.

i personally have Neuspeed, and think its too loud, but if you want quiet, you cant go wrong with MTM, APR or Milltek.

I've had two exhausts: AWE (Thermal) and Milltek.

The AWE was all out performance but it was too loud for me. APR from what I read is too restrcitive and the Milltek is right in between.

Milltek was the exhaust note I wanted to have from my Audi. From the conversations I had with Darryl his MTM is quieter than the Milltek and I would classify that as a near "stock sounding" noise level.

I'll say it again... I do love how my Milltek sounds.

this is great... thanks to all who posted.

I will try to attend some GTGs. I'm also curious as to what other mods people are doing to the B6.

Originally i was just thinking of swapping tips just for the look, but if I can find that nice quiet exhaust i might just go that route.

I've heard a couple of sound bites thermal and Magnaflow... but I havent heard the rest... APR, Neuspeed, MTM, or Oetty.

I'm curious as to what those sound... I'll try some searching through google, hopfully i'll find some.

    thanks again guys!

Who you callin stock... with these beautiful, 90mm, rolled polished ss tips...

And like I've said before; it sure seemed to flow/perform like those w/ a DP (APR being the worst of the 3). The GHL was a full 2.5" system w/ DP (even seperate center resonator canisters) and the MTM full 70mm [2.756"] pipe w/o DP sure felt to be simiarly matched, if not slightly better in performance. Biggest diff. of course was tolerable noise levels. I agree though, it's a price to pay. But worth it for me. I got what I wanted. It's not stock sound, but it is at a level and tonality that I like. I tired of loud exhaust systems and didn't want to ruin my A4 with that.

I am happy with my MTM setup, turboback baby =)

Expensive piece I agree but I don't regret it the least bit. HFC is now back up to $1,400 though so I hope those of you who wanted it bought it at the $979 price.

A4Jared has some really nice pics as well as A4NCAR, I wish I got some more when she was all fresh and clean.

apr is 2.5" downpipe, to the center res, then splits to 2.25"

milltek is (hold on, gotta get out my mm conversion chart) 60mm downpipe (~2.3333333...in.) and 50mm (2") from the center resonator back

Grrr. Why does yours look a bit cleaner then mine. Your clamp looks different and the muffler shell looks painted. Jet had the early, early version with oval mufflers.

So you have the MTM Stage 3 installed now? Must sound so fine with that full exhaust. I don't know if I should install mine or sell and give up on the turbo upgrade...

your out of your mind, APR is a HAIR louder than STOCK lol...

in fact APR is so quiet and refined most people think AUDI makes it just from the sound.. they just think it's an aftermarket high performance OEM audi system.

Get your facts right if you are going to dismiss it. There is nothing stock about it except the casings of the components. All else is changed including the resonators, inside of the mufflers, piping, and tips.

On the exhaust you are having built you may want to go from a 2.5" TP to 3" exhaust or 3" TP to 3" exhaust with dual 3" outlet rather than from 3" TP to 2.5" exhaust. The idea is for the exhaust to go from smaller to larger to aid scavenging. cheers! Mike

lol. Yeah, a high quality/crafted, thoroughly tested, TUV approved, OE fitment, 76mm DP/HJS 100 cpsi CAT/70mm exhaust, w/ custom center single resonator canister and OE muffler shells w/ MTM internals, quiet flowing performing exhaust system w/ 90mm polished/rolled tips joke. Looks can be deceiving. But to each their own....

It's only a joke to you because you haven't expereinced what I expereinced with other exhausts and cannot compare. If you're satisified with what most $1K under exhaust systems offer, that's great. You can't compare though what went into R&D for MTM vs "other" brands. I thought the price was crazy also and how could I justify it. Well, I learned the hard way.

Good god is right...Well coincidentally enough the problem that they're having right now is the EXCESSIVE HIGH QUALITY.

Pat had a hard time finding piping to match the DP. MTM IS NOT MADE FROM SS, its some special variation of SS.

Also, there are only two shops in this area who do the amazingly precise and ridiculous clean/0 contamination welding that MTM did. And he's having trouble working with either of them.

So in conclusion Pat is still ogling over my turboback MTM exhaust and I'm getting a rental

I do know this wait will be worth it though once i can finally drive my stage III'd car at 100% capacity!

    PS: your car is ugly

its still a 5 mm increase compared to stock across easily 10 feet of piping, thats pretty significant. And its still pushing 78.5mm of exhaust flow compared to b5s that were 70mm.
