i second the firehawk indy 500 summer tires for max grip, have used them consistently on my buddies GTO for years.

Happy with my Mich PS AS 3 Plus tires. About 5k miles. I’ve been in a couple emergency situations and they have been great. (You know when a car jumps into your lane and then brakes).

I really believe that Michelin is one of the only brands that seriously considers and addresses tire performance as the tire wears. I mean my tires are practically new, but as they age and wear I think will out perform any other comparable tire.

This is a All-season tire, next time I’ll go for summer tires (socal). Drivers are just getting worse and more distracted. I’ll take all the performance I can get.

Ah, tire thread! I missed this earlier and posted my question elsewhere.

For ye Allroad owners with 19" wheels, what size tires do you use?
I am looking for a set of S5 Rotors (19x9 ET33) and I was going to put 255/40R19 tires on them as those I can find with proper load rating (100) rather than 255/35R19, which seem to come only in 96 load rating and also have 9mm less sidewall height compared to 255/40, which have 4mm more than stock 245/40R19 size.
That said, should I stick with 245 for the summer tires rather than trying to force the issue with 255? This is a family car not a summer performance car in our family. I am looking to put on Toyo Proxes T1 Sport (because I am getting a good deal on them) or Firestone Indy 500 (preferred choice).

I run 245/40/19 on my 19x9 peelers. It depends how low your car is. These rub on my flares if i hit a bump while making a sharp turn. I'll probably do a 235/40 next time i replace tires. If your car isn't too low the 245/40 will be a perfect fit.
Also Indy 500s are fantastic tires and i highly recommend them.

No my car is on coilovers and pretty low. If you're still stock height then the 255s might be a better choice. The 245s have a slight bit of stretch that might look silly on a stock height car

I put a set of Kumho Ecstra PS91 staggered on my Daily Driver Benz GLK350. So far they have held up fine, but the hottest tire for the money these days is the Firestone Firehawk INDY 500. Amazing tire for the money. I'll be putting them on my Audi and my Benz when these Kumho tires wear out .

I just had Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires put on my 19" OEM sport wheels, replacing the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ that were on them when I got the car. I wasn't happy with how the A/S's performed in Jan and Feb, so I decided I would use winter tires next season, which means why not get summers for the warmer months.

The ride is night and day different. Our roads are still between 35 - 45 degrees, but man the 4S's grip and, what surprised me the most, was how much the ride quality improved. The A/S's were hard and harsh. Where I live the roads are pretty shit from all the salt and no maintenance (where do our tax dollars go?!), so we have more potholes than mosquitos. I had assumed that either my control arms were shot or the strut tower mounts blown because of how harsh the ride was... but no, it was those A/S 3's in the winter.

I almost pulled the trigger on the firehawks, but decided I didn't want to deal with the flat spots when it gets cold overnight. If I were living somplace warmer I would have went with them tho.

Anyone run 245/40/18 tires on OE allroad wheels? Guy local to me has a set of nearly new winter tires I can pickup for good price. I'm lowered on coilovers and not planning on raising the height for winter driving.

Yessir! I posted on here a while back when they first came up on the radar. On my 2nd set and hands down, best bang for the buck! Just does everything well and close enough to Z rating for a daily driver without feeling too harsh.

Is there a winter tire thread or this is where to post questions pertaining to recommended size for 17” rims ?
I checked tirerack but audi recommend a different size.
    Should I be rolling 225/50/17’s or 245/45/17’s ?

I been running a set of Dunlop Signature HPs 255/35/19 for about 20k miles and they perform great in the summer for being a UHP all-season. Winter performance is mediocre, they have trouble stopping but seeing as we don't get a ton of snow around here they're good enough to get me around.

Ride comfort is great too considering they're a lower profile.

    I have a 2015 B8.5 A4 that came with stock wheels/tires that are: 18 x 8 ET47 with 245 40 18 tires.

    I recently bought OEM Audi wheels from a 2019 B9 S4 (the new rotors) that are: 19 x 8.5 ET40.

Which tire size should I get? From what I understand, the b8.5's that came with 19's had 255/35/19 tires (like old rotors or flower petals); and b9's with 19's come with 245/35/19's.

The 245's are actually closer in diameter to the stock tires my A4 came with, but why didn't Audi put that size on b8.5's instead?

Any opinions or advice? (my car is not lowered)

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello!

I know this has been covered(no doubt), but I want to get your expert opinions.

My A4 has base suspension with 17" wheels(245/45r17). This is my winter setup, and I don't have any other wheels for summer. I have the same size summer tyres I took off the rims. I am thinking about giving these to a friend because I don't switch my tyres again.

I've been looking at some 19" D5 wheels for a while, and they have just gone on sale. They are 9j+34 offset. Another member uses them on his A4, but I believe his is an S-LINE. I want to fit 255/35s on them, but I'm worried about sidewall gap. Eventually, I want to change the suspension, but it's a real pain to do(pinch bolt).

From this website calculator, it seems sidewall height is reduced slightly with the 19" wheels....
    Sidewall Height inches (mm) (17")4.34 (110.25) (19")3.51 (89.25) -0.83 (-21) -19%

My question; will the sidewall gap look more pronounced with the larger wheels? I don't want it to look ridiculous, but I really don't want to mess with suspension just yet, but I do want to take advantage of the sale.

Thanks, and I apologize for the question in advance.

What is the right size tire for Alzor/ECS 18” peeler reps? I want to keep an 18” wheel on my daily driver.

Should I fit 245/40/18? I live in Arizona and can run Michelin Pilot Sport 4S year round.

Is a 255/35 tire too narrow for a 9.5" wheel? I'm currently running Bridgestone S001 and they seem to run a little on the wide side, so I'm wondering if they'd work okay with 9.5" wheels. I'm not a fan of the stretched look, but I also don't know if those tires would look stretched on 9.5 wheels. My current wheels are 9" and they look fine. Will the extra half inch make a difference?

Should be fine. Recommended wheel width for a 255/35/19 is 8.5 → 10"
