    Guys,

My 2010 A4 has only 31k miles and vibration at 70 and above. The tires are gone at 31k mile? I am planning to upgrade the wheel from 17" to 18". What all season tire are you guys recommending? My car is lowered with Solowerks coilover.

    What's good Fam!

Real quick. Currently running Sumitomo HRT Z III's-245 35 19 on Niche 19 x 9.5, 35 offset. Enjoyed them overall but did give up a little ride comfortability. If I want to regain some of that back, should I go with 255's for less of a stretch or or go fr 35-40 sidewall to gain more air volume.

    Appreciate the feedback.

definitely glad i opted to Summer tires.
so i put about 350 miles this whole weekend and the best thing i can say about this is the grip. well, duh, its summer tires. i feel alot more confident on windy roads compared to my P6 all season pirellis i had. those tires crap.

im able to launch from a full stop now with no traction loss. (no revving)
Road noise is still there but this one isnt as loud as the P6.

Conti extreme contact was my first choice but the price on those was a bit steep so i went the cheaper route since the reviews on them were on par.
overall, i would purchase this tire again.

Thanks guys. I couldn't believe I need a new set of tires and only 31k miles on them. 2010 A4. In the old days, people put 50k-60k miles on the tire before need to replace them. They were all around $60-$80 each.

Do all of you order tires from TireRack.com? I noticed their price is not the best.

For example, they are selling Michelin pilot sport A/S 3+ for $206 each and I see Walmart sells them for $158 each. whata hell?

I order through my local tire place, to give them the business, and their prices are like $10 cheaper than TR. Most place will match or beat if you ask.

Discount tire direct then take them to discount to have them installed. Can't beat that 100% warranty.

I got a quote from my local Mavis Tire Discount place. Michlin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ ($211 plus tax for each tire installed and balanced). Tire size 245 45 18". The guy said there is $70 mail-in rebate if buy 4 of them. Is this a good deal?

Looks like he is shorting you the rebate discount tire direct is offering $100 rebate. Discount also charges $16 for lifetime mounting and balancing so another $64. So it's only $8 more but I would definitely ask for the $100 rebate.

Sorry, I forgot to mention about the $70 mail in rebate. He said $70, not $100.

But the wheel is on back order.. so the tire deal may change by the time I got the wheel and ready to purchase the tires.

Do you guys like the wheels from OEMWheels.com? Any reviews on their product?

OEMWheels.com isn't a website if you're talking about the oem rep wheels on eBay I had a set and they made the 70 mph 2009 shake more prominent. I fixed it with a very thin aluminum hub centric spacer that had to be replaced every time the wheel was removed due to being mangled.

I finally ordered my new set of tires. Has anyone tried these tires on their AUDI? I saw good and bad reviews. I got them today and will have them installed Wednesday. I'm replacing my stock 245 to 255. I will add review once I get them installed.

I have the same tire waiting to go on my allroad 255/40 R19. I purchased mine due to the recommendation of this over the summer version. Have a buddy in Texas that is a bfg sales rep and off the record the A/S out performed the summer tire even on dry pavement. It is also the tire he is running on his personal vehicle a V8 Dodge Charger.

    Installed

Got a set of Ohtsu FP7000's coming wed. from tires-easy, 245/40/18 for 323 for all 4. I have had them on 5 separate cars now, they are the OEM falken ziex ze329's, Ohtsu is just the sister company in japan of falken, all owned and using the same rubber under the umbrella of sumitomo rubber company. I've had expensive tires before, in fact on my last car I had dunlop signature hp's which were like 160 a tire for a similar size and they sucked. I have had general altimax tires previously, they were like ice skates in the rain, and the current bridgestones on the car are wearing funny and make horrible road noise with 50% tread left on them. I don't run dedicated winter/summer, and since the car is quattro, havent had a need to run anything other than an all season tire.

What are the brands you had during the past 5 years? Or you just stick to one brand? I am not familiar with any of those brand never heard of it. Why are they so cheap? I see they are charging shipping cost, wondering how much to ship to my place. Did you have them ship to your home address?

I hope more people know about those tires. I don't want to risk me and my family lives just to save a few hundred dollars.

If your talking about ohtsu FP7000s, they are falken ziex ze329's, ohtsu is the japanese sister brand of falken which is all under the umbrella of sumitomo rubber. Tires-easy sells alot of import tires, so some of the ones you may be seeing like westlake, delinte, etc may be chinese imports which alot of people buy. Nexen and nankang come to mind, nexen actually are sold at walmart as well. I've purchased, the ohtsu's, falken 912's, dunlop signature hp's, kuhmo ecsta 4x and sumitomo all from tires-easy, right to my home address, in the same way that tirerack does that. The ohtsu's are likely so cheap because tires-easy is able to cut out the middle man and your not buying the name brand tire you are buying essentially what is the OEM of the falken version. The only real thing i can tell you about them is while they are all seasons, they do NOT like snow. lol Fine in the winter, but in the snow, they get sketchy because the treadpattern, if you know anything about tread design, is bias towards dry/wet traction rather then snow grip (which requires lots of slits in the tread but has negative effects in other conditions). If you would rather not go with something like this, the only other tire I ever recommend to people, at more expense, are the conti extreme contact DWS (dry wet snow) which are by far the best all season tire on the market today.

My car only has 32k miles on it. However I have done 4 wheels alignment every time I adjusted the ride height. But the tire seems have excessive wears (Toe in). I'm not sure why this is happening to the tires as I do all wheel alignment every time I adjusted the ride height.

I recall people put 50k to 60k miles on a new tire back days. Why today's tire cost almost 3 times more and wears twice as fast as the tires I had 10-20 yrs ago?

Wow... it looks like free shipping to my address. The OHTSU FP7000s seems good tires and there are 10 five stars reviews there for that tire. The UTQG rating is at 440 which is a little lower than the average rating of most tires out there. But the price is unbelievable. Hopefully I can put all four those tires in my A4 to the shop for installation. And you guys said $20 per wheel for installation and balance? And I hope my car slides everywhere in snow with those tires.

Compound differences are the main difference why tire wear has increased. Silica based tires compromise improved traction for increased wear but a wider operating temperature. Stickier a tire is the faster it wears. Thats why I never recommend those "eco friendly" tires, they improve mileage by decreasing rolling resistance, and you decrease rolling resistance by reducing the friction between the tire and the pavement. That means one thing. Less traction. I love those Ohtsu's, and the guys i take my tires to local to me talk about them everytime I go up there because Im that one guy who buys his own tires and takes them to get them mounted and always finding deals. Alot of people judge tires just by the name, but I have had alot of name brand tires in the past that SUCKED and were twice as expensive as these.

Thanks for all the feedback and I will definitely give Ohtsu tires a try. How bad are Ohtsu doing in 3-6" inch snow? We here in NY did got a big snow storm last year, we got 6-12" where I live. In case that happen again this year, I should avoid driving if I have Ohtsu tires installed on my car?

eh I mean, its a gamble with any all season tire on how they will perform. my mother drives around with them on a chevy cobalt in the winter in 3-6" of snow and doesnt really have any issues, and with the quattro in these cars the car should be able to compensate at least somewhat. Honestly this is something that is determined by what kind of winter you get in your area. I live in jersey so our winters for the most part are pretty mild most of the time, but If i lived in say, buffalo or boston or something I would have a set of dedicated winter tires for sure because all seasons just would not cut it with that kind of winter weather.

    Hey All:

I have an 09 B8 A4 Quattro with stock 17 inch wheels and it's time for me to get some new tires. I'm specifically looking for the "best" all season tires that I can purchase from Tire Rack or perhaps elsewhere. I live in New Jersey and while its 85 and sunny today, our winters can get pretty harsh. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Curious if anyone else has had issues with the Michelin PSS's and tramlining. I am running oem rotors (19's) with recommended 255's. The car shifts quite alot when I drive over grooved pavement.

Assuming its tire related but I guess could be the fact that the wheels are bigger and the suspension hasn't changed to accommodate.

I've ordered from tires-easy.com and onlinetires.com several times. For my 3 orders I made through tires-easy.com, 2 of the times they contacted me about a week later to say they were back-ordered, and they could not give any definite time frame on when they'd come in stock. I ordered from them because they were the cheapest price I found online and said the tires were IN STOCK when I ordered. Both times I chose to cancel and refund my order because I needed the tires quickly.

Had been going back and forth between the new Michelin PS4S and the new Continental ExtremeContact Sport, trying to decide for weeks. Decided on the Continental due to it being my daily and was about to order until I came across this...

The new Firestone Firehawk Indy 500.

I normally stay away from anything Firestone, but it won TireRack's comparison test AND the reviews are REALLY good and consensus is it's an insanely good tire for the money. Visually, it's a really appealing tire design and honestly I think it might be more practical for my 25,000+ mile per year daily driver. Thinking of giving it a shot. Here's a review relating it to the PSS:

Once my OEM tires went at around 21k miles (goodyear eagle F1 summers), I went to a set of summer michelin PSS and those were extremely sticky and insanely responsive but also very noisy and became very unsafe under about 40°F (plus they're a bit expensive). Those only lasted me 15k miles so i was disappointed in the longevity, then I heard firestone came out with this tire right when I needed new ones so i ordered a set (I was the first in my entire area to have them) and they've been pretty good to me so far. They're not as good as the michelins at the very edge of handling but they are much quieter, less harsh on the ride, and work in a much wider range of temperatures (I've had them down to under 20°F). For the price and the fact that they're almost as good as the michelins and certainly better than the goodyears I would definitely recommend them.
