Just got back from Tahoe and boy the drive from SF to Tahoe 200miles was brutal. It heavily rained the whole way up and my car was hydroplaning if i drove past 60mphs not sure if it was my tire tread, low psi 35 (checked afterward), or heavy rain (but i see other cars go 65mph+ ie civic, prius)

the DWS minus the "S" did pretty well in the snow from going to stopping.

Can anyone advise by the pictures if i need a new set, I will continue to go up to the snow until April. Im lowered also and slight camber.

Check out the last picture on the first post. That'll give you idea and you're getting low enough on that tread to justify new tires soon.

I am mounting an AccuAir airride set on my audi a4 b8 next week. Currently i'm driving with 19" rotor wheels with 255/35/19 size tires. I want the wheelarches to come over my tire and a little bit over my rotors. Which size tires do I need then? thanks :)

Just ordered a set of Continental Extreme Contact DW tires 255/35ZR19. I have Hankook VENTUS V12 EVO2 255/35ZR19 right now and they have been great but I like the Continentals a little more. I had a set of Continental EXTREMECONTACT DWS tires years back and loved them.

I've been running the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric All Season 255 /35 R19 96Y XL VSB on my factory rotors for a few thousand miles now. So far they have been great!
I had the Continental ContiSportContact 3 (stock tires) before these but wanted an all-season for that very rare trip to Tahoe. I looked at the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 and the Continental ExtremeContact DWS too, although both of those tires had a clause in the mileage warranty that the warranty was void if/when the tires are repaired. Didn't want to risk the warranty on a flat so I went with the Goodyear.

At first the Goodyear were a little loose (probably still wearing off the mold release) and did scream a bit when pushed. However after about a thousand miles the tires have been great. Still get an occasional scream when pushed hard but I'll take that as a warning since they still grip fine while screaming. The dry has been good, not quite as good as the ContiSportContact 3 but good enough for me. The wet performance has been great and feel solid where my ContiSportContact 3 would sometimes feel loose these are well connected. Still haven't tried the snow but if the reviews are correct, they should be close to the DWS and better than the A/S 3. I'm happy and got them for a great price.

So I got my tires put on and an alignment done yesterday. The camber was so bad in the back that I had to take the 15mm spacers out and put my 5mm ones in. These tires are great and love how sticky they are, so far so good with these babies.

My contribution to the tire thread:

    Summers -
Michelin Pilot Super Sports on 245 size; 18" rim. Great tire for aggressive daily driving. Very quiet but good grip. Good in rain as well. Held up on two track days but then get corded. Sidewalls are too soft for aggressive track driving

Cooper RS3-S on 275 side, 18 x 9" rim: Bought these secondhand but almost new tread depth. Great grip but lots of road noise (probably due to wider width). I was surprised at the size of the tire based on rim, but does not appear to be oversized (may be due to the manufacturer having a "small" 275.) Will update further.

    Snow tires-
Firestone winterforce snows - I know that many of you will discount these compared to Blizzaks; but I've rocked them on 3 cars including audi and they work fantastic with minimal wire. Only time I've gotten stock is if I've gotten too much snow on the undercarriage.

    Looking to try:
Bridgestone Pole Position S-04s for my next tire purchase. Should be stronger than the PSS and a little cheaper as well.

Any opinions on Pirelli P Zero Rosso? That's what was on the car when I bought it, they seem good, but I don't have anything to compare to. Im in California where we get about 4 hours of rain per year.

Never run them on this car but my uncle has them on his 911 and they are damn good tires. Treadwear isn't ideal though, at least the way he drives.

Good choice! I haven't put mine on just yet, trying to get a little more out of my Hankooks first. Plus looking for a good alignment place that know what they're doing.

Got a few drives under my belt, tires are great. Perform just as well as the PZero Rosso's I had on there before, and are a bit quieter. In theory, they'll wear better as well.

Is it okay for me to use a 96y rated tire when the factory ones are 98y? There are no PSS tires made in my size with 98y.

I'm running allroad wheels on my 2011 a4 b8. The dumb offset isn't too bad the rears are flush and the fronts are flush maybe poking a tiny bit. I'm getting new tires soon current tire size is stock 245/45/r18 and was thinking about going 240/40/r18. Would this be enough to bring the tire in a little so I won't rub much? (occasionally rubs on little dips on the highway)

245/40/18 is OE size for the sedan, you should be ok with that. What width and offset are the AR wheels, and what suspension are you running?

You're right about the offset... They're 18x8 ET26. That's a pretty damn aggressive offset for 18s on an A4. 245 tires should work OK but you'll end up with monster truck wheel gap unless you drop it, and then you run the risk of rubbing.

If you want my 2 cents, I'd suggest buying wheels with a slightly more conservative offset (18x8.5 ET35 sits perfectly) and dropping the car. You can get replica wheels quite inexpensively online; I'm running a set in that fitment (on sport suspension) and I'm very happy with them.

Edit: Just ran across the picture you posted when you got the wheels... 40 section tires would definitely help, but I stand by what I said above. You can probably resell the AR wheels for the same price you'd pay for OE reps. Also in addition to the drop you definitely need e-codes. My apologies to your bank account ;)

In my 95K miles I've run Sumitomos HTRs, Nitto 550s, Falken FK453s and now Hankook Ventus V12.

Hands down, the Hankooks have been my favorite. Predictable and great in the rain with little road noise over 20K miles.

My second favorites were the Nittos because of their stiff sidewalls and tread wear but they got loud after 20K. The Sumitomos are great for the first 15K but wear badly on the shoulders and get loud. The Falkens are shit after 10K.

I'm currently running Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus in 255/35/19 on 19x8.5 Rotors. I've driven on them for ~1000 miles and I have to say they have impressed me so far. Tested them out in the snow and they provided more traction than any of the other A/S tires Ive run in the past, great dry/wet grip as well. Theyre very quiet up to 90, which is the fastest Ive had them thus far so cant comment past that. Will definitely consider replacing with the same thing when the time comes, which is a rarity with me.

ATM I have been using Hankook Evo2 255/35/19 for the past 3 Years (Went to Korea for 9 months & Was had to leave car in Storage). These tires have been very reliable, although I did have one flat tire from running over a nail popping my front right tire. I drove about 22,000+ Miles on them and they have been great. But I really want to try out what everyone is praising called the "Michelin Super Sport Tires". Can anyone tell me if it's worth trying out? The price difference for 4 sets is ridiculously high!!!!!

4 Sets of Hankook Tires: $677
4 Sets of Michelin Super Sport Tires: $1,100
    Price Difference = $430!!!!!!

For those who are running 255/35/19 tires, what tire pressures are you running? After switching from 245 to 255 I know I'm supposed to drop a little pressure, but I'm not sure how much.

Depends on the make and all have different max PSI ratings. I had Hankook's and they where 55PSI max and now my new Continental DW's, 51PSI. I have 41PSI right now but not sure if that's the exact PSI they should be at, might check Google.

I'm trying to figure out what the correct operating pressure is. The max pressure is written on the tire. I'm sure it's 50 something, but that's way to much to actually run them at. I'm thinking the correct pressure is something like 30-33 psi, but I'm not too sure.

Yeah I'm going to look into the prefect pressure tomorrow. I'm probably a little high.

Did the weight of your car change and become drastically lighter?
