Your A3 will never run like a Prius, even with your coveted Eco mode button. Get your head out of your ass man, based off of hundreds of hours of market research it's a feature that Audi didn't deem American car buyer's would want in their entry level Audi (with you as the only exception, apparently).

Now you put YOUR face closer to the monitor so we can slap YOU upside the head and simultaneously end this moronic thread and your gigantic cry-fest.
I was speaking in the sense of saving fuel. Why are you being so defensive like you're some Audi USA fanboy?

This is nothing new. There are a lot of features that are simply not activated or included in certain markets. My M3 is no different.

Example 1: the "M Dynamic Mode" (sportier DSC mode) is crippled in the US for some reason. It's a popular coding change to enable the rest-of-world version by flipping two bits. It nearly doubles the allowable slip angle. Do they think American drivers are stupid and careless? Did focus group testing indicate that people in the US don't care? Who knows.

Example 2: there is a bit you can flip to make the wipers automatically park when the car is turned off. By default, they just stop right in the middle of the stroke.

Example 3: the small LCD in the instrument cluster does not show "instant MPG" by default. You can enable it by flipping a single bit.

Example 4: passenger side mirror can automatically fold down to show you the rear wheel/curb when you go into reverse. This is disabled in US cars but can easily be activated through coding.

I could go on and on. It's nothing new to Audis or to BMWs. Some of it is a financially-motivated, some of it is regulatory, some of it could just be a guy in corporate arbitrarily declaring, "no one cares about that [feature]". Not sure why people are getting so butt-hurt over it.

My E60 needed just one wire installed to activate the "Sport" mode, which became standard in the sport models towards the end of the life cycle.

Bluetooth hardware was already integrated in the 2004 models, but didn't work from the factory. They were enabled by simple coding. This is common across German manufacturers.
