Vag autowerks tune! Need some advice

Hey guys just bought a vag autowerks tune for my unitronic a4 2.0t. Has anyone ran there tune before? They are shipping me a used ecu to put into my car and reprogramming it to work with my car. Need some advice!

I thought there was an immobilizer issue with just swapping ECUs out...? I may be entirely off base but I'm pretty sure that's why you can't just buy someone's tuned ECU and drop it in.

I really think you should be considering the JHM tune, its the latest and greatest, and the most refined tune, There is a high possibility this Daz guy could blow up your motor. I watched multiple 1.8ts blow up in the mk4 section from a guy named Gonzo tunning.

Why would you get a tune from some guy when you are on this forum with tons of knowledge of reputable company tunes available. If you don't have the money like in my case to get a company's (jhm) tune, then just save it up and just wait it out. Its not worth blowing your motor and making your car easier to steal (since he has your address by sending you the ECU).Do your self a favor and return to sender that ECU and get your money back and just save your money for JHM, or whatever other reputable company your want.

There's like 20 of them...and JHM is currently king of the kill regarding user happiness...but any of the other options would be better than a ghetto tun that makes your car free to any passerbys

You know what's cool is just asking around for advice that's all I already talked to the guy about returning it. But I hate how if I post something about a tune all you JHM preachers come out and say JHM is the only way blah blah blah. Like yeah I get it but I'm not willing to pay $750 out the door when I can go get a Giac for $560 installed. Also everyone needs to take in mind that I have been researching for a while. But from everyone the story always changes. My tunes better no this tune is better. Blah blah blah. So you never no plus I'm not looking to get crazy upgrades I want a tune no upgrades besides the ecu that's all.

Do you get program switching (two programs), launch assist, and a free upgrade to stage 2 with those other tunes?

We are a local company that is reviving the platform and setting bar higher. People say a tune is a tune. It's not. Just ask the people who have switched to our software.

Yeah I haven't been on much this week because I have been busy with work. Money was never the issue I could afford what ever tune. It was more about getting the information from everyone that's all. Plus I can't make it this weekend out to your meetup

Daz @ VAG Autowerks is a genius when it comes to tuning these Bosch ECUs. I'm sure he can put together a great tune for you. However, you are on stock hardware and the JHM tune is already perfected. No logging etc... Obviously the price difference is significant so you'll need to decide which is the better value. Probably Daz...

Also, re your "I won't pay $750 when I can get GIAC for $650". Not sure why you'd cheap out for $100 when JHM is clearly a much better performing tune.

I always have gone with a reputable tune company I know that will stand behind their products in case something goes wrong. At the end of the day its your car,your choice. This tune your speaking of defeats the immobilizer. Something Id rather keep functioning on my car.

I have APR and I love it. I'm not modding my car any further than Stage 1 cause I want to easily pass my state inspections and not have to push the OEM parts of my engine too far to keep engine longevity as it's my daily driver. I say do whatever tune you want, but it's probably better to keep your immobilizer intact. Why physically pull out your ECU when a simple OBDII reflash is possible?

Just because everyone is satisfied with JHM doesn't mean every other tune out there is shit. I'm not trying to knock JHM or anything but it's pretty sad how the B7 community seems to have closed their minds to anything other than JHM. For the record, all B5 and earlier generation Audis did not have immobilizers. I'm running an immo defeated ecu right now and it's not a "a ghetto tun that makes your car free to any passerbys"

Maybe because pretty much all other companies have abandoned the B7 platform with up to date technology products and moved onto B8.5 and up

I dont have personal knowledge of Daz's tune or who he is. This is the reason I didnt mention any one company's tune. As you can tell by my signature. I have JHM nothing, ZERO... I modded my car with many companies products before I knew about JHM. I like a few of their products but not all of them

You have it all wrong, there is no peer pressure. You are witnessing what happens when someone raises the bar and few others have been able to keep up. JHM's tune has proven to be more powerful than just about every other tune in thread after thread for a stage 1/2 car. Keep your head in the sand if you want to but for the same price would you rather have a better supported faster tune, or a tune that has yet to prove itself, disables anti-theft features, and requires you to swap out your ECU?
