Question Both CV axles replaced...still clicking noise?...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So joints on both of my cv axles went out so i bought the replacements from Autozone and installed them. I'm not sure if it's still the CV axles but a clicking noise is still there just as before when my joints were bad. Could it be that the replacement axles are faulty or should i be looking elsewhere? The clicking sounds pretty much the same as before i replaced the axles only a bit milder. Please help, because i'm lost! Thanks for any input.

The first question is what are you doing when you hear the clicking? Turning? Driving in a straight line?

Your best bet is to get it on a lift, or jack stands, and get it in gear and single out the sound. Don't start throwing parts at it like I read a lot of people doing here.

Will have to do this tomorrow because the clunking is worse than i initially thought, it almost sounds like everything is loose underneath the front end.. And now the CEL is on and i have loss of power but i'm pretty sure the problems aren't related... yay..

Get the ones from O reilyes they are remanufacutured ones. Autozone used to sell remans not anymore if they are gold plated on the part that goes into the transmission where the 6 triples square bits are then it is china it is crap and it will vibrate.

    Hub Bearings

I had the same issue and it ended up being my hub bearings.

So i took the wheel off and noticed that the driver side rotor was loose, it turns out the small bolt that holds the rotor on is missing. Would this cause my front end noise? I would think that the lug bolts would hold the rotor on, but what do i know. Any advice is much appreciated.

EDIT: So apparently the rotor retainer missing isn't a problem. While accelerating with the wheels in the air, i'm hearing tons of scraping and clanking at higher RPMs. Also, (likely due to me desperately needing an alignment for months and being careless enough to not go get one) the inside of my front tires are completely bald and the rest of the tire is almost full tread.
