I think for Audi, the "Lifetime" of the transmission is until the warranty expires.

Definitely recommend changing fluid and filter, and having dealer do it..dealer may have specific computer software to check levels through vagcom that independents may not. It's what I plan to do at 50k, ever since I read the zf article ,they definitely encourage regular fluid changes and feel their transmissions are built to out live the car itself...... Since my old b6 the new 8 speed does require more fluid hence the increased cost... I'm thinking close to 700 in fluid and filter alone... Ecs tuning definitely sells complete fluid and parts for much less then dealer..
