SoCal and SCC Audi members, we need your help for a video...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!

We are requesting your help in creating our 2005 Holiday Video! We had a fabulous response last year and I can't wait to see the footage we pull together for this year's event! (see information about this year's upcoming Holiday Party by visiting the SCC website.)

First, we are requesting any footage you have (original footage on Hi-8 tape or, preferably, miniDV tape from ANY ACNA events and/or personal drives/Audi footage over the past year (or 2004). Please send me an email to [email protected] and she will forward a release form and the address to which the tape(s) may be sent. Your prompt response is appreciated. Of course, we will return all tapes ASAP.

Second, we'd like to request the presence of the SoCal community for an impromptu drive this coming Saturday or Sunday morning (we still haven't decided yet which day) for the purpose of taking driving footage. This IS NOT a high speed event. Most likely the drive will be in Orange County on the back roads near Julian (i.e. HWY 76, 78, 67 S6, S7, S2, S22, S3, etc.) from approx. 9:00A-12:00P. Ideally, some attending members would have passengers that can operate a mini DV-camera. Since we'm trying to have as many people participate as possible we will pose the option of a Sunday drive, instead of Saturday. From the responses, we'll set the final day and location. If you're interested in attending, please email me Janet at [email protected] with the following:

    1. Which day(s) you are available Saturday and/or Sunday (9:00A-12:00P)?
    2. Where do you live (i.e. city from which you'll be driving)?
    3. Will you have a passenger with you?
    4. Do you have a mini-DV camera (or super/Hi-8 camera) that may be used for the drive?
    5. Any questions you may have with regard to the drive.

When emailing, please respond to all of the questions above. Audi's only please, everyone welcome including non-ACNA members.

Thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration.

    Best Wishes and Happy Trails,

    SCC Audi

hey SoCal AZ'ers, if you don't have any plans tomorrow morning, why don't you come out for a drive and video shoot with us?

here's the details and hope to see more of you there tomorrow...

Again, thank you all for your interest and participation (I emailing everyone that responded even though some of you can't make it on Sunday).

Make sure camera batteries are charged (or, if possible, bring an extra battery). We'll meet at the Lake Henshaw turnout on the east side of Route 76, just south os S7 (http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ad...w=1&name=&qty=).

Kris and I will be at the turnout by 8:30am. I'll have coffee, bagels and donuts for everyone. Feel free to take this email and applicable maps with you!

    ITINERARY AND EXPECTATIONS
8:45A-9:00A - Lake Henshaw scenic turnout at Route 76 and S7. Continental breakfast and coffee will be served. Drivers, videographers discuss details, comments and questions. View driving video (for ideas). Everyone participating will need to sign a photo release.

9:15A (sharp) - We're off and filming. We'll head up S7 to the scenic overlook, we may drive back to Route 76. Then up Route 76 to Mesa Grande. We'll drive Mesa Grande, depending upon time, both directions.

11:30A - Pow Wow regarding further filiming.

12:00P - Everyone is free to enjoy the day!

All participants: we will be driving FUN roads and everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy themselves. However, no laws can be broken on this drive (i.e. no passing over double yellow lines, irresponsible passing, excessive speeds, etc.). Speeds will be "enhanced" in editing. We cannot afford to be targeted by CHP. Please respect this request. We'll still have fun, I promise.

Drivers: keep a three second pace between cars. It's safer and the pacing looks better on film (and we actually get a full view of each vehicle!). Pick a static point on the road and use that as your guide. And, we're trying to "stretch out" the number of cars in the pack.

Videographers: the attached video should give you some ideas about camera angles. Holding the camera at the side of the car, high above the sunroof, pointed at the side view mirror or rear view mirror and close to the middle of the windshield are a few angles that will add "interest" to the footage. The steadier the better! If you see a vista that looks nice...shoot it!!! Try not to move the camera around too much (set on an image and hold (i.e. :20-:30), then change the angle and hold...).

The attached was submitted by ACNA member Kurt Jones. Hopefully this will offer some ideas and get you excited about the drive! It will take a minute to download.

    Best Regards and Happy Trails,
