    B7 2.0t using a big port 1.8t intake manifold

I recently came across this modification on Instagram from a fellow b7 owner. I did contact him but his response was "I used a stock 1.8t manifold".

Here a picture of the mod:

I have searched everywhere and can't really find a solid answer only pictures. Has anyone come across it??

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but unless there are factual gains (testing with data) to be had then that mod only exists for the cool factor. Even on the 1.8T, adding the larger port AEB intake manifold to a small port 1.8T cylinder head showed absolutely no gains. Matter of fact, it actually slowed down turbo spool time due to velocity drop. Only time it did show any performance gain was when running an application above 400WHP (somewhere around that range). But this isn't exactly an apples to apples comparison.

What I'm getting at is don't add something for the cool factor unless it actually shows gains. For example, pretty sure your plastic IM can dissipate heat faster than an alunimum one can. And that is just the IAT factor.

True, but I can get it for free haha. Also the big port AEB is supposedly a direct match to the 2.0t port. But I hate these plastic manifolds on b7, the new Audis don't have plastic intake manifold anymore well the a6 from what I seen.

Measure the port and be sure the aeb is the correct size. That looks like a small port mani to me. AEB has like a little bracket to hold the throttle drive cable. I don't see one on that manifold unless he shaved it off. You then need to consider fueling mods, as that manifold now has you running port injection. For that, not quite sure what mods, if any, would be required for fueling. But I see no return fuel line, so I'm thinking he went with b6 amb configuration (manifold and fuel rail).

Looking at it more, you sure that isn't a 2005.5?

Might be a B6 manifold, but i already got someone who will shave. I'm just upset IE manifold for b7 2.0t is 1000$ there should be an option for people who aren't trying to go all out on builds just make it work and look nice.
