God, I wish. I've gotten used to it. Of course, now when I get in my wife's car (Acura MDX) I forget that her scroll wheel spins the correct way and I have to remind myself. I can't win.

Haha. I use to have the same issue when driving my Dads Mercedes. He now has a Q7 and is always turning it the wrong way....haha.

Yes with a bunch of prying and pulling. To remove it all the way you will have to disconnect a couple of connectors on the right.

I have a 2012 S4 with the MMI. I want to update the map DVD (located in left side of the trunk) to a newer map but cannot tell what kind of DVD I need. Do I have a "2G" MMI? The discs I've managed to find say they are for 2G S4s up to 2011. Is the 2012 different? The manual gives me no clue.

Is it just me or do our doors not lock/unlock as expected when the car is turned off?

I'll shut off the car when I get home and get out. All the doors unlock when I open the door as far as I can tell, but when I go back to it even ten minutes later to grab something out of the back I might have forgotten, the doors except the driver will usually be locked. But sometimes it's just the back doors locked, sometimes just one back door O.o

Keyless system with pushbutton start if that matters.

There is no DVD. It's a hard drive based system and right now there are only two options to upgrade the maps. Take it to the dealer and pay an exorbitant amount of money or PM philip0001 on here and he can help you upgrade them for much less.

No problem. It's kind of confusing. The different systems have similar characteristics. It's dependent on car model and year.

Put the VIN number in Carfax. You don't have to run a report and pay. Just input the VIN and it should tell you Audi S4 Premium Plus or Audi S4 Prestige.

For these items on the maintenance schedule, what lubricants should be used:

    1) Doors – lubricate door hinges, straps, locks and hood latch - Is WD40 ok? What is it referring to when it says "straps?" Is it possible to lubricate the locks without opening the interior paneling?

    2) Sliding Roof – clean guide rails and lubricate with grease

I can guess Wd40 is probably a no no. I would assume a lithium or silicon based lubricant, but I'm not sure

What he said. Being you own an Audi, get comfortable with that phrase as all your racing should be from a stop (from a dig). That's where we shine.

For a DD that will likely never see a 1/4 mi, will you really feel a difference in performance with lightweight brake rotors?

I have the Apikol two piece rotors (which are lighter). I went with them because of the correct direction for the cooling fins and the hoped for slight difference in performance. Also, I could get them in a solid face (no holes, slots, or other gimmicks). I knew the difference would be slight and I have found no difference in felt acceleration or deceleration or any another driving aspect. I do, however, like that they are supposed to be beefy enough that they can be turned at least once (unlike stock) and that when they are done you replace just the ring and not the whole thing. I do worry that when I finally do go to replace the rings that rings will not be sold. But that's a risk I've accepted

I'd buy the Apikol rotors again. So don't get me wrong. They are high quality. The difference in price between Apikol rotors and my DIY versus allowing Audi to do the work was justifiable. The potential for reuse is quite nice to me. A solid face rotor for hard, down hill stopping is unbeatable as far as I'm concerned.

So, this might sound stupid, but oh well.

I am about to replace all 4 tires (still on stock Contis and they will only last another 1k miles or so, even with rotation, for a total of about 15k miles) and called the local Audi/VW indie shop and asked him if he did mount and balance (highly recommended Audi/VW/Euro car mech). He stated that he doesn't and that I need to go to the dealer to do so. I was actually thinking of taking it to a guy I know at NTB but am now curious as to why the indie shop owner would say to take it to the dealer. I know there are no TPMS sensors in the valve stem and from what I can tell, it should just be a simple mount and balance. Any reason why an NTB or Pep Boys couldn't do it? It's not that I'm too cheap to take it to Audi, but what is the reason to pay more for Audi to do it (considering that scratching or bending the rims is not an issue wherever I take it) versus another shop?

I plan on buying the tires by Friday and need to get them mounted some time next week. Thoughts?

I just got mine replaced two weeks ago. I wouldn't take them to Pep Boys or NTB. I found a reputable place that does bigger wheels and tires. S4 wheels don't require any special mounting or balancing equipment like other wheels do. Just someone who cares about what they do. Don't go to Audi.

I didn't think they required anything special. I just booked my 15k mile service for Nov 11 and got a price quote from Audi for $115 for all 4 to be mounted and balanced, which is only a little more than it would cost me at NTB, normally around $95 (have a friend at NTB that looks after my wheels when I take them in), so I'll just let them do it while I wait for it to be serviced.

I actually have the plan to protect the rims through Audi (or their 3rd party vendor) that was thrown in at purchase so if anything goes bad, they'll replace them.

Odd that the indy would say that, there's no reason to go to your dealer to change out your tires except convenience like in Reckon's case.

Might be a stupid question as I know very little about aftermarket wheel sizing. Will a 19x10 size wheel fit my car? Or should I go with the 19x8.5? I'm looking at the Rotiform SPF if that helps any.
