Do you have to wait for the engine cool down after flogging it then turning it off? I always did that with my GTI.

When in S mode, why are the downshifts so damn aggressive, and will this harm the transmission in the long run?

No, that is recommended procedure for a turbocharged engine, though. Helps reduce oil coking in the turbo. Our cars are supercharged, which doesn't have the same inherent problems.

To disable the rain-sensing wipers you can go into your car systems menu and turn it off.

I have to take my S4 to the dealer on Monday for them to do the environmental protection application on it (was thrown in as part of the deal) and was going to ask them to do a few things that would normally require VAGCOM to do. Do you think they will do it or is it a standard Audi thing to leave the system 'stock'?

I was going to ask for:
-- Enable Lap Timer (to get oil temp readings)
-- Enable DIS with Efficiency Program
    -- Enable Adaptive brake lights
-- Enable Remote Operations Window and Sunroof

Nothing too difficult really and I know at other dealers with other cars I have been able to get them to change default settings that required specific software with no problems.

^I'll ask...I really only want the lap timer and the window/sunroof option so maybe I'll start with those. There is no one with VAGCOM in my area so I may buy the tool myself and become an expert!!!

You can also pull down on the wiper stock just after you turn the car off and it will do the same.

That's what led me to make the decision after you recommended I check it out, haha!

EDIT: Just ordered the Carista OBD2 dongle through Amazon. Should be here next week. Downloaded the app...free version. Won't let me do in an app upgrade yet but it might need to be actually connected first before doing so. Will report back once I have the dongle.

I literally said at Waterfest that I am done modding MonSoonHell. I have touched just about every inch of MonSoonHell and earlier this week, I purchased another damn mod. Someone buy MonSoonHell from me...I cannot stop. I have an Audi A7 and recently purchased boat that I need to spoil. This is getting ridiculous.

Yes, I know. That was put on hold when I was deciding on my fourth set of rims for MonSoonHell. Plus, I had purchased new ceramic brake pads and Adam Racing Rotors...so wanted to get my money's worth before thinking about the BBK. I do not track my car, that was another reason for not going forward with that mod. The stock calipers stop MonSoonHell very well, especially with the rotors and pads mentioned above.

Wait, why I am talking about this...Stop putting more mod thoughts in my head... damn you!

I just received the mod I purchased earlier this week, in today's mail. Besides the cost of the mod, the labor rate for this install is going to be about 7 hours...at least!

Ooo, I just figured out how to increase the nav scroll speed. Not sure if this applies to B8.5 cars or not. In the green hidden menu, go to nav > map and change the following settings:

Enable custom scroll speeds - YES
    Speed for step 1 - 100
    Speed for step 2 - 150
    Speed for step 3 - 300

Unfortunately, these are the max values. But, the first and second stage scrolling is vastly improved. You can also change the refresh rate. It's set to 20 from the factory. The value corresponds to how often the screen will repaint while you are scrolling.

    It's the little things

Now, if I could only get the nav screen to display the current road I am on without having to be in route guidance mode I would be a happy camper.

Hello guys! Three week owner of my first-ever Audi here (2014 S4).

I've tried to play with every setting in the MMI and touch every button in the vehicle in order to learn what everything does. The only thing that has me stumped is the headlight switch. The knob has the ability to push it in, but I can't figure out what pushing it in actually does. I can't imagine that it does nothing, otherwise, why would it push in in the first place? Also, I've looked in the owner's manual, but haven't been able to find anything to explain this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance...

As far as i know, you push it in and twist to Remove the switch. It serves no other function.

So, not really a stupid question, per se, more of an observation. But, who else uses the little gas cap holder when you fill up? Do you just let the cap dangle, or do you stick it in the hole? lol.

Oh i stick it in the hole alright! I was actually stoked to see that spot when i bought this car. My old A4 had a shitty system to hold the cap which didn't work.

I definitely stick it in the hole. I can't afford to have it dribbling, dripping or oozing down the side.

Nav zoom goes the "correct" way if you think about it like a volume knob on a radio.

Because now even your gas filler door is locked and nobody can steal your GO GO JUICE. When you want the car locked up...it gets locked up...Germans don't play.
