Your brake fluid could be low but my guess is that you didn't do a proper brake bleed with VCDS, theres a procedure and if you didn't do it, you almost certainly have air trapped in the brake lines which could give you a indicator light.

I get the below codes and a yellow transmission malfunction on dash after 30-40 min drive

Restarting the car clears the error and I can continue to drive and might show again after a while, it’s intermittent.

When it happens the dash shows the gear in N and as soon as I stop the car, mechanically it move to N and will not move until I shut the engine and move it to P.

Its pulls and gear shift very nice.

So I reckon it is a faulty sensor because the wires got toasted inside the transmission?

Anyone had to deal with similar issue ?

Don't post error codes and leave out what module the error codes are from. Better, just post the scan log complete and unbridged so there's no questions that remain due to incomplete information. The error codes point to the shifter, based on that information. There's some hall sensors that assess gear selection and tiptronic operation. Maybe a magnet came loose, or something is busted. Why are the dates from 2010? Disconnected batter but didn't reset the car's date/time?

Got the 7E8 and 7E9 codes today after the engine light went on. I’ve noticed some bucking on my dsg 2013 S4 and have done all the necessary maintenance up to this point. It’s at 84k miles and I’m in San Diego - any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Date because the battery was disconnected.

No other errors, except for the above.

Does anyone experienced same issue? It is the lever sensor inside the box needs replacement and (as I was told) I need to replace the mechatronic unit as well, which I find hard to believe as the error is intermittent and log says is electrical and goes away with restarting ignition.
If it’s mechanical the code will stay after restart.

    Or I’m wrong?

What is the consensus on the B8 side mount tiny heat exchanger? The OEM middle one has been replaced by a triple pass HX.

Keep the side mount hx or remove?

You can “optimize” your coolant loop by removing it, from my experience the small cooler will come out easily, but the bracket it sits on won’t come out without removing your front bumper. Further optimizing would involved removing the metal hard lines and replacing with 3/4” hoses. VelocityAP sells 3/4” supercharger port upgrade for even more coolant flow while you’re at it. You don’t need to ‘divorce’ the loops to realize improved recovery time. Cheap mod is also to play with your coolant water ratio like 40% coolant rest distilled water with a bottle of water wetter for good measure

Damn son, you're a legend! So much info packaged into a few sentences. I plan on removing the front bar anyway so I can remove it while I'm there.

Yeah I've seen the VelocityAP pipes but couldn't justify it as I only do one 1/4m test then drive around then test again. I currently use 50/50 so I will try 40c/60w. Thanks so much!

Car stumbles a bit when working the windows at idle. Battery going out? Got a new one in 2019, so I'd understand if it's starting to go now, but it still starts up.

Anyone know where the MAF sensor is? I have a p2098 code, I replaced the O2 sensor and replaced all the fuel injector o-rings but the code keeps coming up so i’m thinking it’s the MAF sensor I just have no clue where it is located.

FWIW, I live in a climate where freeze is pretty much limited to January and February. I run 90% water 10% coolant with water wetter added most of the year. For us, coolant is mostly to inhibit corrosion and lubricate the main water pump.

Run only as much coolant as needed to prevent the freezing temps you actually encounter.

None. The supercharged 3.0 does not have one. The AFR is maintained by MAP (manifold air pressure) sensors, one on each side of the supercharger toward the front.

Code P2098 suggests the issue is on Bank 2 - the driver's side. Is that where you replaced the rear 02 sensor, the one on top of the cat?

Ah that makes sense. Yes that was the O2 sensor I replaced.

I also noticed that the long fuel trim on bank 2 is sitting at around 14 percent which I assume is what is throwing the code but i’m not sure how to bring it down.

10 or 12nm but don’t quote me. I’m sure you can easily google it or find one of the b8 repair manuals posted for free on a google doc. You will need a low torque wrench that is 1/4” probably for a bike. And the bolts that sit against the body are impossible to get a torque wrench on, you will have to do it purely by feel, maybe with just a angled torx bit/allen style key there is not much clearance between those bolts.

The manual appears to show 9 nm for the 12 bolts.

It's 9 Nm, but note there's a specific sequence for torquing them for install (1 -> 12). And when removing them for uninstall, they should be removed in the opposite order (12 -> 1).

I picked up a 2013 S4 6-spd a few weeks ago and I'm trying to figure out some of the strange options this one either has or doesn't have. Seller only had it for a brief period and didn't know much about it. I thought the masterminds in this form could help an old AZ veteran out.

-It has sport diff and a button between the shifter and the cup holders that says "Drive Select". When pressed it says "Dynamic" on the cluster. What all changes with that?
-It has no push button start but has the small squares on the door handles. They seem to do nothing. Is that ADVANCED KEY if it did have the push button and then the door sensors would work?
-It has a camera on the trunk lid but no camera pops up in reverse.
-It has B&O speakers on the dash and the doors but the Concert Stereo by the HVAC.
-It has the Mmi buttons on the dash by the stereo. No Nav.

I assume it's a Premium Plus with the Sport Diff option but the rear camera and half B&O/half Concert stereo seem strange.

I still have a 2015 RS5 so I understand the higher equiptment packages but this fun little daily rocket S4 has me scratching my head....Thanks for any insights.

Unit in the dash above the climate controls say Audi concert rather than Audi multimedia. Ok. So you have the CAN bus infotainment system with a traditional radio unit rather than the MOST bus (optical ring) infotainment system, aka MMI. The front end infotainment system is separate from the back end sound system. So Concert + B&O, ok, sure. And I would call them the menu controls, rather than the MMI controls. Will help you remember you don't have MMI. You have CAN bus radio, which in B8 was changed to have an MMI like menu system and control buttons arrangement.

All the door handles have the square impression. Doesn't mean they have the sensor bar inside. Outside the US, B8 could have keyless entry and/or keyless go. In the US, they were only offered together, as Advanced Key. So if you don't have the start/stop button on the console for keyless go, you're not going to have the keyless entry function either.

Is the backup camera control module present in the back right, where the J393 BCM2 and J540 EPB are? Would be the module with the green and gray FAKRA RF lines plugged into. If so, you'll need to scan with VCDS and see what the state of the vehicle systems is. Maybe you have errors related to the backup camera signal.

Drive Select has likely been discussed in many places. There's three pages on it in the owner's manual, including the chart, which is probably what you're looking for. Individual mode is only present with MMI. Without MMI, all you get is the control button (below the shifter rather than above the climate controls because you don't have MMI) which cycles in sequence between comfort, auto, and dynamic.

You could hit up Audi USA for the complete PR codes list for your VIN. Then how the vehicle came from the factory will be known. But a used vehicle, anything could have been modded.

Very informative and helpful. I appreciate it!

I'll look in the rear for the camera control module you described. It did occur to me that maybe a trunk lid had been swapped at some point.
Pushing the button below the shifter only makes it say "Dynamic" no other options cycle through. My RS5 would have the 4 options of Comfort, Auto, Individual and Dynamic. I'll read up on that in the manual once I find one.

She's high mileage at 212k but a blast to drive. I bought this with a spare engine to learn the maintenance on my own. After cutting my teeth on B5 2.7TT cars for 10 years and then the 4.2 RS5 the last 9...It was time to see what all the talk was about with these 3.0T cars. I wish I would have jumped in sooner! These things are great! The goal is to build up the spare motor and get acquainted with the ins and outs of the platform. I see a wagon swap happening eventually. I've torn a few B5's apart and back again already. I'll be in this forum quite a bit now. Cheers!

It should cycle Dynamic, Auto, Comfort. As mentioned, without MMI, there is no individual. But that it responds to the button press, it must be some kind of config issue. Problem being, who knows what hacking by the PO might have been done to mess up the Charisma system config, etc.

It's possible the camera unit is an aftermarket type rather than OEM type, with the yellow composite signal to run into an aftermarket device. Maybe the car had an RSNAV type device?

Yeah, until you have the PR codes list and a VCDS autoscan log to start really parsing, it's hard to say with used cars.
