    Cooper Tires Zeon RS3-A

So I needed tires on Sunday in an emergency (I had to take a 500mile road trip for work) and my Conti's were at 4/32nds after 9800 miles.

Because Audi has weird tire sizes, the ONLY tires I could find in Denver (Because Discount is closed on Sundays here) were the Cooper's at Pep Boys.

I have to say, for $900, (Pep Boys has a buy 3 get 1 free deal going now) they don't suck ass!

    Cooper Tires - We don't suck ass(tm).

Ride quality is about equal to the Contis, as is grip. I think they are slightly noisier, but I have never found any car on 35s to ride that quietly. I had an S4 loaner on the 18" wheels and THAT car rode quietly.

The best part is that they have a 30k warranty on them, which no other performance tire that I could find has. I don't track the car ever, so overall I'm pretty happy with them.

These are the tires that came on my car when I got it. And I'm actually quite pleased with them. I'm not an aggressive driver and these are quiet, smooth and grippy in the instances where I drove it harder. Even on a 3k road trip it was nice and smooth with no issues.

Would I buy them again? Probably not unless theres a huge deal on them. But not a bad alternative for cost effective tires.

I was debating between these and a set of Nitto Motivos on my B7. Wound up with the Motivos because of the 560 treadwear rating and 60k mile warranty.

So far they're great. A little bit noisier than DWS' when they've worn a bit, but I've got 20-25k on my fronts and they still measured in 8/32nds (rears were replaced with new due to an incident--but still close enough for quattro). However, if/when I sport a new car, I'll keep these in mind. Thanks.

Any reason you wouldn't buy again?

Truthfully, there really isn't any reason to not buy another set of these. Aside from getting a major brand tire manufacturer or a higher performance tire. I've always gotten Continentals, Michelins or Yokohamas for my cars in the past. My previous S4 I've had the Extreme Contact DWS tires and was impressed with them. I am most likely going to get a set for the current S4 when in need.

I've run Michelins on the wife's Passat for a while and just recently replaced them at a VW dealer in Florida with Hankooks because they had a special on them. I'm really impressed with them.

Maybe I'm just a tire snob and think the buying from the big tire companies is what I should do. These Coopers did get some good write ups though.

Some of the more popular Michelin tires have a comparable warranty.

I have cooper zeon rs3-s's and they are amazing.

I also paid less than half of what you did, so the ROI seems really high, as they are likely the best tires I have had on one of my personal vehicles.

I had a set of these tires on my Volvo V70R. They were ok, for all seasons. Their rain performance was pretty good, but they lacked grip in the dry. They were passable in the snow, I never got stuck. Would I have bought them again? Probably not. They were pretty inexpensive, though. About $100 per tire, IIRC. But the size was different (235/45-17).

I like the look of those Coopers. Have you ever had the Pilot SuperSports? I'd be curious to hear your opinion on the differences between the two. Between the heat and weird road material in South Florida (I hear they use crushed shells in the asphalt) I seem to need new tires every year and I'm tired of dropping $1300 / year on tires.

My contis lasted 21k and had lost grip and increased road noise while my s04s and michelins lasted 33k and still had great road manners. Contis are not a good benchmark tire here.

If you got 21k out of your Contis, you sir are my hero. Mine were so worn at 9k that the service manager told me he would recommend replacing them, and my dealer doesn't push tires at all.

x2. After my experience with them, I have no intention of buying them ever again.

I would have bought the Pilot Super Sport, but alas, Discount was closed.

I technically paid $600 for 4 tires, the $900 included installation and road hazard.
