Anybody willing to share pics of your 255/35/20 on 10" wheel?
Want to see how much stretch there is compared to the 275 we are currently running.

Front knock/pop sound in the front.

Okay been a bit since I dropped the car on KWs. I致e developed this odd knock/pop sound/feel at creeping speed going in or out of driveways of when driving slowly over uneven pavement. We致e checked everything. Even monitored the coilovers through the inspection window when it happens and nothing stands out. Tonight we took all the under covers off and made sure all the front carriage hardware is good and tight. The pop is mainly on the drivers side mid depth. Occasionally it feels like it痴 in the center of the front. Doesn稚 seem to do it when actually driving. Only super slow driving. I did install an 034 rear bar and I知 thinking the rear is so reinforced now that the front body mounts or something is flexing.
    Cvs look good
Uppers and lowers look good. Tie rods look good.
    I知 at a loss.
    Anyone with experience with this?
    Thx

Swaybar end links? They usually cause a rattle sound on uneven pavement. Could have pushed one over the edge when lowering and the bushing is dead, or one is loose.

Get a rubber mallet and hit the swaybar in the direction of tension for the end link (straight up, usually, but I haven't been under this car yet so I don't know the geometry). This should be able to reproduce the sound if it's the end link.

    |___________| ... if those vertical lines were the end links, and the middle the swaybar, you would hit the bar, where it's connected to the end link, straight up toward the chassis.

The idea is to make the bar exert the same force direction on the end link that it would when it's twisting due to uneven surfaces.

We inspected the end links and they didn稚 appear to be faulty. I値l throw it up on the alignment rack tomorrow if I get a chance to look at them at ride height. It痴 strange. It痴 a deep thunk kind of sound. I壇 really like to find the culprit. It痴 annoying .

Sway bolts put in the correct direction? Could also be the top hat bolt - worse case scenario, take apart that side, retorque everything and reinstall.

I can't remember exactly but I thought a few people ran into this same noise issue long ago. I remember researching a noise created by the spring's coils rubbing on coilovers. Some made the noise go away by lowering the car more and others used plastic or rubber between the coils. Then again it could be the upper control arm touching the inner metal lip on the fender. I know a few of us (killerboots, myself, etc.) had to grind away material so our upper control arms would not touch. Then again I could be complete incorrect...

That was our last resort, year the strut cradle back out and reinstall. May come to that.

Arms are clear. Coils not binding, we watched them through the inspection window. Nothing visible is binding. Nothing we can find is lose. But something isn稚 happy! Lol

Looks like we solved it tonight, (fingers crossed). Removed the entire strut assembly and took the coilover apart. Cleaned up the locating pins on the upper cradle. Reinstalled. So far perfectly quiet. I知 convinced it was the inside rear cradle mount.

The spacers push the wheels out further, closer to the fenders so the likelihood of rubbing is much less without them. I picked up smaller spacers in case of rubbing when I switched to air but didn稚 need to use.

Currently only stock suspension but will be doing coilovers soon, so would at 245 or 255 35/20 be the best size to go with or is there another size altogether I should consider for thr Q5 peelers?

Keep in mind, these are only 8.5" wide wheels. You could put a 255/35 on there if you wanted without issue. I chose the 245/35 and am happy with them. A lot of it comes down to personal preference and how you want your car to ride, look, etc.

Has anyone researched retrofitting heated seats in the back of the Allroad? I have found part numbers for the switches and a thread about retrofitting a Q5.

The electronics and wiring between a Q5 and A4/Allroad are very similar. Can you link the information about retrofitting g a Q5?

I would imagine it's a standalone system (not integrated with multiple modules). Power to the fuse box, ground, switches to control it, and an illumination wire for the switches. Collecting all of the odds and ends (repair wires or terminals, connectors, rear seat clips, etc.) and pulling apart the rear seats will probably be the most challenging parts.

It's something I considered doing, but I rarely have anyone else in the car, especially the back seats. Never actually looked into it other than knowing it was possible.

A heated steering wheel is something I would be more interested in, but pretty sure that one isn't feasible on a B8.

I was hoping you or Killerboots would have something to say. : )

    Here is the Q5 thread:

Here is a wiring harness I found but not sure since it says "Not suitable for facelift models":

And the rear trim in brown (FIXU):

Ha! I wish I could lend a hand here. My new rear seats are actually the heated versions but I never ran the additional wiring to complete. With the child seats back there it wasn稚 a huge priority for me at the time.

Wasn稚 sure if you had researched it though when you got your new interior. So far the few parts that seem to be needed are not that expensive. Still unsure about the control module (do we already have one or do we need one like in the Q5 thread) and the wiring.

The Q5 thread looks pretty spot on. There is a module apparently, but it's likely just a complicated relay. There's no coding at least.

The Kufatec harness unfortunately will be useless. The only other obstacle is confirming part numbers for the trim panel and pads. I don't have a functioning copy of ETKA anymore to dig into this further. :(
