B8.5 allroad Info & Resources Megathread

Hi all! Just picked up an all road as my daily and adventuring car. I want to beef it up for off-roading, like that overland allroad version, but in a milder manner since it’ll be my daily.

I’ve scoured the internet and these forums, but I can’t seem to find anything on the topic… is there upgraded suspension for our cars without needing custom mounts?

Nice thread dropshadow! Clicked on it and was shocked to see it has 90 pages. I have some reading to do. Just wanted to poke my head in here to say hello as I recently picked up a '13 in volcano red. Not sure what is on the mod list after I take care of some maintenance.

Does the allroad (2015) have the same windshield as the a4? Just had mine replaced and the techs busted my rain sensor/rear view mirror plastic pieces. (Also didn’t tell me it was busted) I believe the mount comes on the windshield so I am wondering if they are slightly different.

Anyone have experience with this?

I’m not sure about the rain sensor but I just recently got a new windshield for my allroad and noticed on the work order it said for an A4 sedan. After seeing that I assume they’re the same

I just had my windshield replaced and my wipers activate every time i hit a bump. Cant leave them on auto anymore

The sensor is like a gel pack inside the part of the mirror that attaches to the windshield. It uses capacitance to determine if there's rain. Sounds like someone messed up your circuit.

I've tried searching, but using two characters produces nothing, so here comes a question:
Does S5 exhaust fit on an Allroad? And is there any benefit in sound? Has anyone fitted one? I realize only the rear portion or maybe just the mufflers would work.

Does anyone have a writeup of swapping the rear brakes for the (I believe) S4 rears? Believe those were the parts that added braking power while maintaining the electronic parking brake. Hoping to knock that out this fall or winter, want to start prepping.

Its just a remove and replace on the caliper and rotor. Dust shield stays the same.

You can also do S6 rears and go up to the 356x22 rotor, but will need the S6 dust shield.

Sorry, you need the S4 carriers as well. Usually they come with the calipers, so I didn’t specify.

I’ve used scotch brite pads and 0000 steel wool, never had a problem with flaking, so I’m going with the latter.

Plenty of options out there. I have used RSNav units in 2 of my B8.5 allroads with good results.

Has any been able to put honeycomb grill on an b8.5 allroad or whole front s line bumper on an allroad, seems ridiculous that audi didn't make an option for that from factory

Allroad grill opening is unique to the Allroad bumper, you either need to modify a grill or modify an A4/S4/RS4 bumper by grafting the Allroad fender flares on… both have been done/documented.

I've had more than a few Audi's, and my '12 Q7 TDi just finally gave up sunday with 342,000 miles on it, so I'm picking up a '13 allroad Prestige tomorrow. Happy to be joining the Shooting Brake club!
I've seen what Shawn @ Pacific did to his, and I like it a LOT, and since I'm transferring quite a few of the toys over from the Q, I have to wonder... does anyone know if the Avant and the Q7 use the same roof rails? If so I'm trading to the shorties before I dump the Q7.

TL:DR, does the Q7, A6 Avant and allroad use the same size roof rails (as far as bolt pattern is concerned)?

No, the three cars listed do not use the same size rails. The Q7 has flush roof rails and both the A4 allroad and A6 allroad have raised rails. The A6 Avant with flush rails is wider than the A4 so they would not use the same cross bars either.

Yes a few people have, and I have done an S4 bumper. The Allroad flares have to be molded into the bumper since they contain the mounts to the chassis.

There's no DIY, its work only a body shop that's very experienced in custom work can accomplish.
