A lot of the people who did this mod didn't have that option as I'm lead to believe it was only open for the Euro not US. You just need a backseat with rails. Bolt them down, create a bolt point for your 5 point harness and then put in the seat. Pretty straight forward mod. You just won't be able to get to your tool kit.

Has anyone here actually put Sport seats into the standard allroad?
Same question for Sport or RS steering wheel into an allroad that was not originally equipped with shift paddles?

    Seats should be easily doable.

Adding a steering wheel with paddle shifters only requires some VCDS coding to activate them. That info can be found here on AZ.

Smoothed out my allroad grill last weekend. Couldn't justify the huge cost of getting one of the plateless ones and also even they have holes so with a day of fabricating filler pieces and a can of the good old plasti dip here we have a smooth hole free grill.

Sure. I cut 4 double layer strips of plexiglass. Heated and moulded them to the contours of the grill. Matched them all by taping them together when still hot. That was for the large strip. For the smaller holes I cut small discs and filler pieces. Doubled them up with a oversize piece on the back and them epoxyed them into the holes from behind. Fiddly as hell. Once all the pieces were glued in place, I used a small about of plastic filler for the gaps. Sand flat and then about 4 coats of plasti dip.

Hardest part was making sure the filler pieces fit tight and matched the curve of the grill. I got a bit to into it and forgot to take many pics, here is one of the big filler pieces setting. I belt sanded them all to equal size when they had set

Total cost $11 and a day of labor.

sure I'm gonna get busted for no front plate one day but plateless fronts are worth a fix it ticket.

Must remember not to post in the avant thread as there is a lot of hate towards the mighty allroad there....

i don't get it, some of the local guys diss the allroad stating that the B8.5 isn't a true allroad, only the A6 based one is. I completely disagree. allroads are avants in my book, and seing as i'll have to eventually leave my current avant at some point the allroad is the ONLY path forward for me. Keep up the good work and please keep on sharing hail the longroof!

BTW grille looks awesome, love this thread. So much good info

Yes, my b7 ended up too much to handle for a commuter car. It was fine when my committee was 2 miles, usually ride my bike in and when i drove it was short enough to not bother me. Full suspension and stage 2+ really got to me once I moved and had to commute 40 minutes on a bumpy road. My plans are cosmetic only this go around.

Thanks, was hesitant cause I usually think dark rims on a dark car looks bad. But it looks killer, had my 50 yr old coworker who's not even close to being a car person compliment on it.

Also helps that I won't have to scrub em clean as often.

I love my window shades. I purchased some similar ones from a US seller over 2 years ago for around $120 but it looks like the seller no longer carries them

I know I'll get a bit flamed for this, but I am embarking on a project to upgrade the stock subwoofer. The speaker is a 2Ohm ~6" woofer that weights about 8oz. After hours of searching a possible replacement I found one of these (because a 6" 2ohm subwoofer is nearly impossible to find with a ~2.5" mounting depth):

There is only one left on Amazon (after I bought one), and it's a very hard to find part. The new speaker has a 16oz magnet, so there has to be a performance increase right there.

I will have to fashion mounting ring, but I think I'll just cannibalize the old speaker and use that frame as a mount for the 5" speaker. I'll probably be receiving it in about a week, so I will update with my findings. Depending on how it sounds and how much air the replacement woofer pushes, I may have to also mod the stock box with a passive radiator such at this:

I can take pics, if others are interested.

I don't suppose there's a DIY for removing the rear fender flare is there? Discovered some hit and and run damage on the passenger rear but luckily was only on the largest piece of the flare.

. Probably going to order the replacement part tomorrow.

Great looking allroad! You have me thinking about going back to dark rims. I'm curious about a couple of your mods:

First, how did you go about painting the grey trim in satin black? I've been thinking about doing something similar for a while but that is as far as I've gotten.

Do you have a write up somewhere that I missed on the sub woofer upgrade? Another mod I've been thinking about...

So I took the plunge and bought a set of Yakima Whisperbar "knock-offs" from a seller on eBay. No photos yet as I just test fitted one of the bars on. My initial impression, I just saved myself close to $250 for a set of bars that look good and *should* function pretty well! I'll report back once they are both installed and have been driven around for a bit.
