I used a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter and grind the 3/8 in to a oval shape, worked awesome.

Great info on here but can't find a good DIY on rear wheel bearings on a quattro. To be clear i have a 2012 A4 B8 Quattro
I did the front wheel bearings which was fairly straight forward, but rears are a different animal. Do i need to take entire rear suspension apart, remove CV's etc to access the 4 bearing bolts, then end up getting an alignment due to all the shims/cam bolts??? Plenty of B5/6 write ups but its not the same beast. Any help appreciated. I'm on the verge of buying a service manual for a one time use.

Its pretty tight back there so you should see if you can get a socket on the 4 bolts that hold the bearing in. It's a 12mm triple square socket. I just replaced my rear wheel bearing housing and it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. It's about $80 in new bolts. Taking off the whole thing just involves taking off the axle bolt, brake rotor+caliper, rear spring, a couple wires, and a few bolts that hold it all together. Should be 10-12 bolts in total.

I'd recommend getting a service manual if you do take the housing off just so you get the torque specs. You can download the whole thing off erWin for $30 or I could just send you mine if you want.

Got them done yesterday... Just committed to tear it down, as I couldn't access the the bearing bolts with knuckle in place. Took some giggling to get back together, and I'll get to go back at it again... Found a bad shock so will be replacing all shocks/struts in near future.

It is $30/day, but within those 24 hours you can download anything you like. I downloaded each section of the manual for my car in less then 10 minutes, then printed all of the TSBs to PDF files (couldn't download these for some reason, but printing worked). This took a bit longer.

Does anyone know a good DIY for the vacuum pump replacement.

I changed the valve Cover Seal and i think i might have pinched the seal or gasket for the vacuum pump and now its leaking oil/fluid!?!
