Battery dead on my 97 A4 1,8T. Which is the stock battery specs i should go for. I am also willing to splurge for a battery a bit more powerful. Which one should i go for provided it fits? No fancy audio equipment or such on the car. Googling this issue brought up a bunch of battery sizes and in various different specs. Which one should i go for...

Stock replacement size is an H6. Different cold cranking amps are available in this size. You just have to choose the brand you want. Most of the batteries in Canada are made by one or two manufacturers, just relabeled. There are also different styles of batteries in the same form factor; AGM (absorbent glass mat) vs your typical flooded battery. For my next battery, which is very soon, I’m going with an AGM. I’ll go with whatever brand is on sale at the time.

Okay, so i bought a brand new battery. It started right up but according to my multimeter it says that charging voltage is 13,5Volts. Is that normal for this car or is the battery getting under-charged? Alternator issue?

Usually, the gauge sits right on the 14v mark. I would drive it and see if the issue corrects itself.

13,7Volts according to my multimeter after a 40km drive. Is this normal?

Sounds about right. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah probably fine but since my battery died out of nowhere randomly with no previous issues or struggle of starting i figured it might have issues further. Now that i think about it, i had the lights and radio on. Put a load on the battery.... Thanks for the advice nonetheless.
