    Oil temp issue?

So my 99.5 B5 1.8T is having issues keeping the oil temps down while going down the freeway. I’ve seen the temps get near 220 while cruising for a while doing 75. It’s ok in the city but not at higher speeds. I went ahead and checked the oil cooler and even replaced it to play it safe, and it made a barely noticeable difference. I’m wondering what could be causing this? The oil is perfect on the dipstick, and has fresh coolant. Car doesn’t run hot coolant wise either. Im at a loss. Any help is appreciated!

thermostat, radiator, fan, oil temp sensor maybe. Could be a bad connection with the sensor

Make sure you do not have a small oil leak. The hot oil dripping from the oil cooler side can reach the pan sensor. FYI.

A little late to be of help.Consider that this is the normal, ie the design . My MY15 S3 8V runs at this temperature when fully warmed up and I am content with that. To evaporate dissolved water in the oil the temp needs to spend time at 212 degrees
