With everything you've done I'm surprised you don't have a better intake manifold.

Yeah Frank and i got it sorted. The o2 sensors were in the wrong spot. And my n75 is bad. So i put an ebc in last noght, and it works good. I cant make the boost i want though cause my diverter valve is opening early cause i neverr got a red spring with it. Rockbeau if you are bored drive on over and check it out, i am in the lower lot between turn 5 and 14. I also think i should buy a new o2 sensor for the precat, the one i have might be part of the reason the afr was acting up. With regard to the intake manifold, i would love a new one, but if you just keep throwing money at the project and never drive it, where is the fun? ThiS winter i Am planning in a new intake mani, cams, and coilovers. But one session down and its still running, so thats a plus.

Promaf was wired fine, have and intank bosch 040 fuel pump. Swaped the o2 sensors indavertently, because they didnt reach where they were supposed to go. Frank was pretty sure that the o2 stuff was the problem. It runs a little lean still when it is building boost at like 2-3.5k, but once the car gets you want to go, it richens up and takes off.

So i didnt tighten the turbo to manifold bolts tight enough, and i had a big exhaust leak. Cant tighten them here cause i lost a nut. I also need to learn how to drive a turbo car. I let it get out of boost too much. It runs wel however, and when i get a stiffer bov spring, it should make even more power.

Yes, in retrospect, the 2867 may have been a better choice, but most of the people I asked said the 3071 would be fine. I can always swap it out sometime. anyone know if meyle or metelli makes a decent master brake cylinder? I need to change mine out, since I put s4 brakes all around and am running a small a4 cylinder, I need to upgrade to the s4 one. but the oem one is like 400$, and the other two are about 100.

Cause the 2867 is relatively new and 3071 has been around longer. They are pretty close, but imo a gt3071 + Billet wheel would be a better apples2apple comparison.

In my experience with ANY turbo, especially with the 2867, is the tuning supporting it.

Most people don't track there car either..yeah it'll make more power but you'll get a better mid range power band with 2867..

But then again if you get into custom tuning you could easily compensate for that size turbo as far as power band.

Indeed. Ill see how it performs when i can actually get above 19psi boost because of the stupid BOV springs. got some other stuff to address first, but so far, i think its movin in the right direction.

Just send your turbo to FP to do a HTA71 compressor wheel upgrade, it will spool up quicker, be more efficient and give you more power. A 47mm exhaust wheel is fine for the street but isn't really going to help that much on a road course.

just looked into this a bit. seems like an interesting option. does it just spool quicker because its lighter and has better shaped fins? Once i get the kinks worked out and see where Im at, ill go from there. Could you elucidate on why this helps so much?

Yes. I know a few guys that upgraded their 3076 with a HTA76 compressor wheel and saw up to 500rpm sooner spool.

swapped out the steering rack tonight. what a bitch. re-bled my brakes after working the pistons a little, and now they arent mushy. I guess the dudes at 034 who said they just needed to be pushed in and out a bit werent wrong. Any of you guys know if its a problem that I do not have a vacuum port tap on my compressor manifold? I run all my boost/vaccuum lines from the intake mani, cause my turbo has no port for it. didnt know if this was making life harder for my EBC, but then again I also do not know how to add a port to my compressor housing. Ill fill yall in tomorrow after I get out and test drive her.

The line for the ebc should be going right at or after the outlet on the cold side.
Make a vac bung if you have to.

ill have to do that. sounds like fun. should i use that same port for the BOV as well? boost sensors and FPR are OK off the manifold, right?

, its important that the ebc line is separated and by itself and as close to the cold side outlet as possible.
That way you'll get the correct reading.

You can run the BOV\boost gauge \fpr from the intake manifold

What type of EBC are you running?

This is my opinion, but I think you should ditch it and run a N75 in conjunction with a manual boost controller. I think with the type of tune you have it would perform better this way.

my N75 is shot. Thats why i ended up getting an EBC. My tuner was able to get his hands on one in a pinch, and I really wanted to go to the track the next day. I should get a new N75, but the EBc seems to be working rather well, even considering that I have it tapped off the intake manifold. it is an Apexi AVC-R. I will tap a port into the compressor housing asap and get my EBC connected to that, and it should only make things better, i suppose.

thoughts on this http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant...egory_Code=BCS instead of tapping into my compressor housing? if it doesnt work, just get a new silicone connector.

To control boost that is where you want the control valve to go and then to the wastegate.
The vaccum line that runs from the back of the control box inside the car...that's the one you want going to the intake manifold for the psi reading ( they work off each other )
Thats the way most ebc work, that why I asked what type you had. ( brand )

Sounds good man, ill update when i get that installed. The new rack from carsteering.com is great. And it was 275$. Now i just need to figure out why the brake pedal is low. I think its the smaller master that came on prefacelift a4's. But god i hate working on brakes

things are definitely better with the EBC off that tap near the compressor housing. Still need to work on tuning the things a bit, and may investigate a newer and easier to use option. That damn avc-r has like a million settings, I just want to tell it to hold a certain psi and be done. I still am having issues with the BOV dumping boost early, I have the red spring in there, with a few shims, and it still opens in the high 20s. the red spring is alledgedly supposed to be fore 30+ psi.

I also was thinking how much the stock AEB cams are limiting me. Those vca1's from IE look good, I know they will definitely give me a ton of power, but will it help with turbo spool at all? if the engine is breathing a little better, my thoughts are maybe it would help me build boost faster. And they drop right in, no degreeing or anything.

The brakes are better with a bigger master and the associated booster, they still need a pretty good bleed though. and I am not leaking any more PS fluid thank god.

thoughts on the cams? or a recommendation on a better EBC? I want to call the tuner and see if buying a new N75 is the better way to go, but I dont see how you can modulate the boost if you are using the N75, seems like it just kinda is what it is then.

In case anyone is waiting with bated breath for an update, I still cant seem to find out why I am not making power. the tune runs real lean under load, So I think its either a fueling issue or a tune issue. So heres how I am fixing the problem, dropped it off at my local porsche/audi performance shop and said "these are the problems, heres my credit card" cause I really want to get this pig running well this summer. Ill holler back when I hear from them, its been a week and a half already, lol.

Cams will actually hurt spool, but they will of course increase top end.

If you are interested in increasing spool, this is one way of doing it. I have the gear, just need to play around with it a bit.

So it turns out i installed 2 things backwards. One is the cam gear, timing was off, nothing is broken, but thats why the car leaned out and made no power. The car now goes fast. Other problem was the bov was backwards. Boost port is the side and the bottom port goes is the vent and goes back to the intake system. Now the car is fun to drive.

The tune was written for 660cc injectors, so I assume i wouldn't overwork them. If I want more in a bit, I will just buy bigger ones and have the shop that fixed it put a standalone in.
