Vag K+CAN Commander 1.4 will extract the PIN from your cluster.

You probably already have one. You will be rich off some wire and fittings.

When are you taking it for an audi alignment?

The thrust angle hasn't changed from when it was a 2.8 30V. The camera placement has a lot to do with his the angles are viewed in the video.

Naturally I'm having the suspension geometry checked, purely because the subframe has been replaced, and of course the lower arms have been disconnected.

It's also called wheel alignment here as well. Either 2 or 4 wheel alignment, depending on the equipment used, and the car. Audi charge as much as £120, which is their hourly rate.

It pays to make sure everything is nice and freed up before taking a car in, that way it'll probably cost about £60.

Non-Audi shops range between 25 and £50.

Update: 11th May, 2016.

My external oil cooler pipes turned up this arvo.

They are PTFE, encased in stainless steel braid. I did consider rubber reinforced hose, pushed onto barbed ends, and secured with worm clips. With rubber though, there is the risk of the hoses softening with heat, or the hoses actually coming off the barbed ends.

These ones were made to my required length, with 1/2" BSP couplings, 90 degree angles at one end, straight at the other. I should be fitting these tomorrow with the cooler, and doing an oil / filter change.

What's the diameter on your hoses?

Currently cruising the streets, in full sleeper mode, complete with it's original trunk badges.

The clutch has now been fully broken in, over 722 miles since the V8 swap.

Just a short video, where I've tried to capture the exhaust note. Exhaust system consists of a pair of B6 S4 Miltek stainless down pipes, (no CATS) mated to an unbranded, stainless dual-piped, dual silencer B5 S4 CAT-back:

I recently picked up another cluster to correct the issue I have with my current one (s4 cluster) I ended up getting another a4 cluster, since the car was originally an a4. Going to have a buddy adapt it to the car. What is this 4 pin code I keep see you talking about in regards to programing the cluster?

The 5-digit PIN / SKC only applies to cars with immobilisers. With North American models, it'll be plug and play.

ahhh ok. so if the immobilizer is already defeated I don't have to worry about it. OK I was wondering why you where doing all this coding. So all I have to do is take the codings off the current cluster and put them to the cluster I put in the car.

The S6 motor had an immobilizer but I had that defeated while I was doing my swap

What issues are you having with your s4 cluster?

For your oil cooler setup -with the sandwich plate, do you have any problems with your oil not reaching a proper (high enough) temperature? Do you have to wait longer for the oil to warm?

What I find confusing about these sandwich plates is that they always allow some oil to flow through the cooler, and the thermostat slowly closes the path (bypass) directly back to the engine, as it warms up. I don't understand why the thermostat wouldn't completely block off the oil cooler when cold, and then slowly open the passage as it is warming. I've heard others say "so there isn't an inrush of cold oil into the engine", but the thermostat doesn't open immediately; it opens slowly, so there would only be a bit of cold oil that would circulate into the engine, and warm oil would slowly take its place, so I don't see how this would "shock" the block with cold oil.

So basically the question is though: do you notice that it takes a long time for the oil to heat up to operating temp? -And any problems keeping it there, with your setup? (I will keep the coolant-oil cooler attached as you did, to help heat the oil)

I put some feelers out, and my phone was ringing all day. The car sold for more than enough to purchase a 2005 Volkswagen Touareg 4.2 V8, or a 2006 BMW E60 540i.

But back to reality. I'm obviously getting another A4. But this time, a B6. With the B5, I've proven the hell out of that platform, as far as V8 swaps go. I also sold the stripped car, with the S8 motor ready to go in.

I'm looking to work the same V8 swap with the B6. Probably an Avant. Sure, I could buy a B6 S4, but with that garbage, chain-driven V8, that breaks as often as you get the thing serviced?

Nope. It'll be a V8 swap, using the ultra-reliable 077-series, belt-driven 40V motor. I'll keep you guys updated, from when I pick up the car. I'm currently looking at a 2004 Laser Red 3.0 V6 Avant Quattro in USP trim, with a blown motor, and tip...

I can't wait to get stuck into this project. I did consider a 2.7T swap, built with a pair of Loba's, but I feel a 4.2 V8 40V is the way to go, probably a single turbo set-up later, on a built motor.

Thanks man. The car was delivered this morning.

I've got a complete ANK engine, from a 2002 S6, harness, ECU, airbox, MAF and cats. I'll be using this, with BFM valve covers, with the BFM coilpacks, injectors and matching red and black connectors / conduits.
