Suspension makes car faster?

So i think i wana upgrade my suspension. There is alot of companies that do it. First off, does it improvre grip, if so dors that improve acceleration?

Secondly, is it a project i can do by myself? I rebuilt my audis front end, however this looks like a lot of step by step rules.

It's not really as simple as saying suspension will make the car faster.

What's your budget for the upgrade? Which components are you looking at replacing?

Just installing a set of springs will improve the look but not really make so much difference to a lap time on the track or in acceleration.

Springs and dampers will be an improvement on just springs alone, the new springs are now controlled more accurately so geometry is more accurate through corners giving more grip.

Coilovers add height adjustability so you can fine tune the ride height at each corner, some coilovers also have adjustable damping which again let's you set up the car and dial in the handling characteristics you require.

Adjustable control arms enable you to fine tune the geometry which again will improve on the handling making the car faster through corners.

Uprated bushes will prevent excess movement in the suspension components so keeping the chassis geometry where it should be.

There's a lot to think about. What do you want to achieve, is it just for looks or for performance, is it a daily driver or a weekend car?

Is it a DIY job. If you're competent with the wrenches then yes, it's not a difficult task but there a few specialist tools you'll require and please bare in mind the energy stored in a compressed suspension spring is enough to do some severe damage.

Will it make your car accelerate faster, no, nothing noticeable. Will it make the car quicker around a track, yes.

A good chassis alignment is a must after the install.

I think the suspension could hae been damaged in an accident before i fixed the car and i think it got worse after i drove over a extremely big and deep pothole. It was in a parking lot.

I was curious how a new suspension in the audi s5 3.2l stasis added .2 seconds faster 0-60mph. So i figured i could do the same to my car with some other suspension.
