    Now the unit will work okay and will generate no errors.

    Side effects:
    You lose the visual presentation on the center display if you have Radio Concert/Chorus or MMI 2G.
    Your seat heating has instead of 6 just 3 settings. Not a very big problem. 3 is the equivalent of 6 warmth wise.

    If you have MMI 3G it will function 100% correctly (so with the full visuals) but then skip "Then go to Byte 1, bit 4 (deselect MMI 3G display)"

    And ofcourse you need the CP removed with a VAS connection."
    I said I wasn't going to spend another $147 to get CP taken off for this but now that we have confirmation it works, I might have to do this. I found a 14 model 8K1820043T, might have to grab it up.

    Update: I ordered it, $109 shipped from LKQ and couldn't hold off.

    about $100 for the unit + whatever your dealer will charge for CP ($130 + 65 in my case because i went in three times to try to get it right).

    the 'thing' is a Spinido Squarenagnetic base for cell phone. Amazon $13 highly recommended!

    Ehhh... For some reason the Climate Knob seems impossible to pry off. I tried this and was pretty sure it was going to break so I stopped. Don't understand why they made every other knob removable but not this one.

    Also, my bad for not paying attention for so long to this after I threw out a teaser. For anyone who has single zone climate control, this definitely works (single pre-fl to single post-fl). The key is the adaptation change already posted.

    single pre-fl to dual post-fl is basically a no-go though, unless you want spend some MAJOR bucks.

    Oh you had single and tried to go dual? That sucks man! I have dual and never even use the rear vent to be honest. I just can't wait to do this and I guess I'm stuck with the knobs.

    Well I looked into retrofitting dual as part of the FL retrofit, and it was gonna be some major surgery. Yea the piano black insert and white lettering will be well worth the "pain" of the chrome knobs :D. This is probably sour grapes but I've convinced myself that single post FL actually looks the best, and is most convenient (don't have to adjust two knobs).

    I think I'll get used to it and I can't wait to install it. Any pics of your whole setup? I remember we did our 3G retrofit at the same time. Also, did you do the color DIS yet?

    I really owe the community some nice interior and exterior pictures at this point. It is a thing of beauty, IMHO :D. I also did the rear taillight FL retrofit recently.

    Two questions: Why do you have both key fobs attached to each other? Also did you get the push start to work or going to do that retrofit?

    The other is for my Q5. No push start hehe. I think i'm done with having the interior in shambles. Need to clean up the B&O retrofit that's half done, seats are in. I think i'm done on aesthetics at that point. The only things I'll do in the car's lifetime is coil-overs once the stock shocks go in about 10k, and a K04 when the stock turbo goes.

    That looks great. I think I stumbled on your thread for that A5 dash swap this summer. It inspired me to do the same. I went with piano black surround as well and finished it off with an RS5 MMI controller. Lots of black and silver now. This HVAC panel will be the final touch I needed for a facelift interior. Glad we figured this out!

    Awesome!! I thought about the RS5 panel, but the cheapest I saw was 700 dollars on ebay... eff that haha, for 7 more silver coated buttons.. Glad you got it though. Also like that your panel doesn't have a push button (I wish I could get rid of mine. In my mind, it calls me a toolbag everytime I get in the car).

    Ok, would single-post FL to dual-post FL be the same amount of work? Or will that be an easier switch? I could have sworn I saw info on this thread earlier saying it would be easier, but now I can't find it.

    These two things under "Adaption I'm not sure about. How do we know if we have the humidity sensor in the mirror and what do you mean by VFL/FL?

    I'm not sure about humidity sensor, but I think VFL/FL might mean Pre FL vs FL. @johnnySV what did you use for adaptations on yours?

    the dealer commented that my mirror type looked like it had the humidity sensor in it, so we put that in. here is a pic of my mirror

    even if you get it wrong, those codes and adaptations are easy to change.... just need the dealer for CP !

    I have the same mirror with the rain sensor but not sure about humidity. I'll play with it when the part comes and get the CP off but I'm pretty sure that humidity stuff is on the face lift and not my pre facelift.

    So what's this change then?

    i have no idea about Channel85. might be best to test it toggled on vs. off. unfortunately i can't plug in right now to report what mine is set to!

    Or are all face lift models white digit climate controls?

    Hey guys, fun update. I installed my FL HVAC panel today. I worked with a tech at the local dealership to get CP removal done and he was cool enough to sit with me while I ran my VAG COM. We could not get the FL unit to accept the old coding. After some head scratching we went straight to the next steps. It turns out all you really need is the LIN Bus adaptation. Once we enabled that, the vents starting blowing right away. Like @johnnySV I have a B8 with 3G+ MMI retrofit. No issues with in-continuity. I enabled all three adaptations for my car.

    So here’s the cool part: NO CODING IS NEEDED for this swap. It’s just those 3 simple adaptations, and CP removal (the most important part).


    FOR 3G/3G+

    According to the post I found over on a5oc it should be the same adaptation changes as above, but you may lose visual presentation on the center display. You will also have to go to 08: Auto HVAC / Byte 1, bit 4 (deselect MMI 3G display).

    Is it possible to update the B8 climate controls to B8.5?

    @Gunnark100 did you change ALL the red LEDs in the car? i notice that console control module is illuminated in blue/white !?!?

    Noup, one German guy, all interior red leds(all buttons, backround etc) replaced with white and mmi buttons leds to match with screen color navi-blue, phone-green etc... Nice, but huge work to dismantle everything to the bits!
