And now my thread is FINALLY up to date after those massive photos dumps.
So basically, I raced my girlfriends full bolt on stage 2 S3 and she pulled on me. I also thought that my turbos were blown because my car was smoking pretty bad, and I heard the infamous dentist drill. On top of that, my motor was leaking a decent amount of oil, probably from things i did last winter. So, I pulled the motor again to replace the turbos, and upgrade some more things. When I pulled the K04, I determined they were not the problem at all, as there was no irregularities with them and no oil in the turbine housings.
I am upgrading to RS6 turbos with mamba wastegates, 1000cc injectors, walbro 450 fuel pump, air/fuel gauge, retune by Blake @ ET Spec and will finally get rid of the flashing “close gas cap” error!, 3 inch downpipes (currently exhaust is 3 inch down to 2.5 and then steps back up to 2.75 at my cat back), ecs lightweight power steering and alternator pulleys, rs4 throttle body, big belly intake manifold ported for 2.8 heads which I just bought a supertech valvetrain kit for.
That being said about the 2.8 heads, they won’t be going on the car until next winter, when I also do a bottom end build. A friend came over and helped out with a leak down test. My front driver side cylinder had 70% leak down and he said he thinks it’s bad piston rings. Great. So, why swap 2.8 heads onto my current long block? I know I will lose some functionality of the intake manifold porting but it will be good for the long term. I figure if I can get it on now with the larger throttle body, I might as well get some use out of it. I also don’t want to rush a motor build this winter, and go broke trying to do so. Instead, this year I’ll focus on acquiring parts in order to build a block on the side, then pull the motor and swap it out
