Hi everyone, here's a short intro:

I have owned 2 B7 A4's; the black and the crimson red. No, it is not the black car repainted. I sold that one for various reasons and bought the maroon one, mainly because the body was clean and because it was better maintained and had less owners (the black car had 5 prior, this one had 2).

Feel free to follow on Instagram for more frequent updates! @jg_iii_

    Impulse's Progression Thread (Picture Heavy)

I don't post here all that often. I usually find myself lurking these forums or browsing the classifieds. I just figured I would put together a progression thread for my car since it has come a long way in the time that I have owned it... and I kind of like whoring it out

It came a long way since I first bought it.. Still have some parts hoarded in my garage that I'm waiting to install (no time because college):
    - CSR Side Skirts
    - Rear window spoiler (unsure of company, I think its Oettinger)
    - Pioneer AVH 1600 Head Unit
    - 034 High Flow Cat

    Mod List

    Engine
    - APR Carbonio Intake
    - Forge DV
    - Podi Boost Gauge

    Suspension
    - Airlift Slam Series front struts
    - Airlift Slam Series rear bags
    - Airlift Performance Series shocks

    Air Setup
    - 4 Gallon tank
    - Dual 444c Compressors
    - Dual SMC Water Traps
    - Dual SMC Check Valves
    - Airlift Autopilot V2 Management

    Aesthetic
    - Cupra R lip
    - Zubehor Rear Valance

    Moving on...

Anyway, I bought the car in January 2014. I got it with 105k on the clock, and fresh timing, water pump and turbo from one of my friends that I went to high school with. Before this, I had a MK4 Jetta VR6. Definitely was a huge upgrade moving from that to the B7.

Now here's some photos from when I first bought it

The car came with some light modifications:
    - OBX Cat back exhaust
    - APR Carbonio Intake
    - Red Interior LED's

Never was a fan of the exhaust. It fit like garbage and sat really low. Ended up tearing the flex pipe open in September and later uninstalling and selling it.

The LED's were something I installed in the car in 2011, when my friend still owned the car. Makes me happy that they still work

Soon after buying the car, I decided it was time to make some modifications to the front end. I installed a Cupra R lip, clear cornered my headlights, and painted some various things on the front end including my euro plate. The grille that was on the car had a cut out for a euro plate so I figured I might as well put it on. Also installed the boost gauge which was my first true mod to the car.

Anyway, in March I lowered it down on some Racelands (terrible decision, I know) and soon after in the summer I bought some CCW LM20's that were way too small. (17x8/9)

Ran that setup through the summer, and then straight traded the CCW's for these Forgelines just before H2oi. (18x9.5/9.5)

After that, I had sold the Forgelines and decided that I would buy wheels that fit perfect and were no longer staggered. I went with the VIP Modular VRC 110's (18x9.5) and this was by far the best decision I could have made. I have to thank my buddy Peter for getting me a deal on the wheels or I probably wouldn't have them. Had to of course do the obligatory test fit photos

Anyway... WINTER MODE! Ran my car like this all winter, did not raise it which was a bad idea since the ASA's have 235 tires on them... Bye bye fender paint

Around early January, I dropped my car off at Audi and got reamed on labor costs. There was way too much wrong with the car and I didn't have enough time to fix it myself due to lack of knowledge and time, seeing as emissions was due in 14 days from when I dropped the car off. My CEL was on for 4 codes.

They fixed all of the following....
    - Power Steering Pump
    - Leak Detection Pump
    - Overboost condition (bad n75 valve)
    - High Pressure Fuel Pump
    - Leaking Oil Cooler
    - Install stock exhaust (which I had at home, but I removed the OBX and did not have the right tools to get the downpipe off of the cat)

Ended up only having to pay one arm and 6 toes...

Soon after that, I saw some used Airlift struts go up for sale on a Facebook group and I knew I had to have them. Ended up pulling the trigger and starting my bag install in February. PayPal credit sure makes it easy to be irresponsible... Pictures below!

I have to thank my friend Kyle for lending me a hand with the air install and lending me his lift for the day. Definitely was a big help! Also a huge thanks to my dad on helping me build this trunk setup... would not be possible without him! (Also, I broke a leader line during the install... It has since been replaced, I just have no photos )

Which brings us to where it sits today:

62 weeks between these 2 photos at the same location.

Some future plans (feel free to chime in, give me positive or negative input):
    - KMD or JHM HPFP upgrade kit
    - 3 inch down pipe to 2.5 inch Y pipe straight exhaust
    - 034 Density Line Engine Mounts (Street Density)
    - Unitronic Stage 2 HPFP Tune
    - Paint and install side skirts and rear glass spoiler

Nice update thread. I think the car looks perfect now. I'm sure it has been a long road, but it looks like you learned quite a bit along the way.

Definitely was a long road with a lot of frustration along the way... Well worth it though!

I was reading that online! I haven't heard much about KMD tuning, it's just what Unitronic recommended for their Stage 2 HPFP tune. I assume this is cause your kit wasn't released when they posted this on their page.

Nice to see another CT guy, and a brilliant black A4 too. Looks great! I'm sure it's been a fun time with the mods. I'm about to graduate school up in Boston, and the mod bug hit me sometime around January. It's pricey, but well worth it. Subscribed.

I think KMD is one of their dealers.

Have you looked at our software? It will net you a bit more power! We had a customer go from Uni STG 2 HPFP to our stage 1 software and picked up 20wtq right off the bat!

I looked at it but saw that there wasn't a tune out yet that utilized the HPFP upgrade along with some of the other mods I have. And I was unsure how much an upgrade in tune costs, as in going from stage 1 to 2 for example.

I wish, but the pump is already on sale (making it the cheapest available pump) and the tuning we are offering free stage 2 upgrade and free second program so you can use programs switching through the cruise control stock!

If you are a 6mt, you will also get launch assist!

Yep, 6mt with cruise control. I just read the flash instructions, it seems easy enough. Might be something I do in the near future when the funds are there. My friend with RS4 in the pictures above said there's a shop in CT that will tune it as well, so I may just wait until stage 2 is out and go from there.

Very nice! I'd be down at SoWo if I wasn't going on a road trip, but that should be a sweet trip for you anyway. I graduate May 8th, so I beat you by a couple of days. Congrats either way

    SoWo prep!!

While I was at school my dad did me a favor and painted the skirts and roof spoiler. Got around to installing those today and they transformed the car! Also fixed the very annoying suspension clunk... Thank you bushings! Off to Helen, Ga on Wednesday night!

Thanks!! And I bought it on a Facebook group, I wish I knew the company. I looked at the box it came in (generic brown shipping box) and it said it was duraflex which I believe, because after finishing you can see its wavy.

Haven't posted in this in a while.

Some of you may have seen my thread about the JHM tune. Well I got it last week and haven't been able to use it unfortunately. Whenever I turn it on and boost I hit 30 or more psi (my gauge is maxed out at 30) and I have a normal ko3 (possibly ko3s the p.o. Swears by it) turbo.

I am working with Jake over at JHM to diagnose the problem and get my car to run properly so I can finally enjoy the new power. Started by removing the Forge DV and going back to OEM. Sort of helped but not really. Now I am being told its my n75 valve, which I just had replaced by Audi along with a lot of other things back in January. Going to change that and hopefully it works out for me...

Hoping for the best! Below are some videos.

30 psi with the tune on and Forge DV still in.

Now the stock DV is in and I can barely build any pressure. Hoping this isn't faulty too...

The car is really starting to discourage me. 121k and its nothing but problems. Violent shaking when driving around 60-70, even more violent shaking when breaking at that speed. Contemplating parting it to stock, selling some of the aftermarket and then buying a newer, lower mileage B7 to transfer my mods to. Might be the best option at this point. I feel like some of the shaking can be attributed to the Airlift front struts since they clunk on every single little bump... I'll have to figure that out eventually too.

    Rant over.

I have a shaking in my car on braking from about 40 down to 20. That's the only time I get it though. I did adjustable upper control arms, tie rod ends, and wheel bearings when I did my air suspension, but I did not do the lowers. That's what I was planning to do next. Has your car had the controls arms done?

Nope I don't plan on doing it either I feel like buying a lower mileage car that I'm not dumping hundreds of dollars into. Probably would cost the same as fixing what's wrong on my car especially since it's over boosting again

Something is preventing the waste gate from opening, so the options are:

    Faulty n75 (or installation)
    Torn WasteGate line
    Frozen Waste Gate actuator.

I'll look into it all, ill check the n75 and look for a diy to see if it's installed properly.
Possible it could be the actuator not sure though.

I'll have to weigh the options that's not too bad and my suspension has to come out anyway since the fronts are clunking yet again

Old that I took off the car whenever the forge went on. I want to try the n75 and then put the forge back in if the n75 works I doubt it's going to continue to boost too high. Maybe get an even stiffer spring
