And thanks for the kind words about the car! It needed work on the rear quarters because it bubbled up but it’s all squared away now

Damn! 6 months since I’ve updated this. I’m a slacker

But naturally, I’ve been more busy posting on Instagram, and of course I’m still hard at work with this car. Time to photo dump and update the thread, mostly for my records but also for those of you who are still following to enjoy!

Some winter build photos! Tore down a spare block and sent it to the machine shop, Got the new bottom end back and it’s looking amazing! Also splurged for a Verkline rear poly kit and am rebuilding my rear subframe and powdering everything. Also splurged for THE-Tuner exhaust manifolds which are absolutely beautiful. Also dropped my motor, way way easier on the lift, I loved every second of it lol

Dropping a major catch up update for the year now, bear with me yall

So all of these photos are from March I think. I finished putting the motor together, painted my rear diff to match the painted trans, fully assembled and installed the rear subframe, rewired my abs module back to a B7 module which I eventually had coded to work with the swap, and then started to install everything into the car!

So in these photos there’s a lot going on, and it’s the start of alllllll the bull shit I had to deal with this winter! I swapped the power steering rack to a B7 S4 rack as I heard the turning ratio was tighter. I also finished assembling the motor with turbos, downpipes, subframes etc and sent it home. Then started with all of the new fluids. I also installed a JXB driveshaft carrier as well, although my stock carrier was still fine, this was a needed upgrade. After starting the car for the first time I had codes for my timing tensioners and came to realize they were installed in the wrong heads. I had a friend help me do the heads and timing, and I was unaware they had different part numbers. No big deal, just a bit of a pain to swap them around with the motor in the car. After buttoning that all up, I then was seeing brake fluid leak under the car, and noticed that any time I pushed in the clutch pedal, the slave would continually drip. Unfortunately for me, when I tried to swap the slave cylinder with the trans in the car, it EJECTED the rod into my bell housing and it fell behind my flywheel… you can’t make this shit up. So I had to pull the trans and clutch to fish that out and install the new slave. I ended up upgrading to a USP metal slave with a braided line. I also slipped in a photo of my BBS LM that we’re getting built

Then, I dropped the car onto the ground for what I was hoping to be a successful maiden voyage…

So, the first pic is right when I pulled it out of the shop…. The oil pressure light popped right on. I scrambled to try to fix it. I dropped my oil pan and found that the screen for my oil pump was clogged with RTV. Stupid me, the first time actually building a motor and not the most knowledgeable, I put RTV around the back of the bolt holes for the oil pan, and the pan never made contact so there was a lot of cured loose Rtv inside of the pan that ultimately gunked up my pump. I dropped the pan, sprayed out the screen and quickly reinstalled the pan as I was on a time crunch to get the car done for Helen. When I reassembled it, I still had an oil pressure light and that’s when I hit my breaking point and decided to turn the car over to Innovative Motorsports to have them diagnose and repair the car, and i switched gears into getting my R32 ready for Helen instead as I didn’t feel comfortable basically doing a 2500 mile maiden voyage to Georgia in the A4. They installed a new oil pump for me and it solved the problem, thank god. And I hadn’t put more than like 5 miles on the car so it was safe from harm.

When I got home from Georgia, I picked up the car and attended a local B6/7 meet up and that was the first I was able to get the car out this year, it felt great!

I also threw in some photos of my birthday cake that my lovely fiancée had made for me!

Some more photos of my BBS LM! They had to be repowdered as there was an issue with the powdercoat being contaminated and it caused cracks in the clear coat. I got them home and was blown away by the work that LLOYD’s GA did on them. He fixed the 3 piece conversion to do it properly, he countersunk 20 bolts between the existing 20 in order to increase the structural support, and also finished them in a full brush with tinted clear coat, the faces purposely being slightly darker

Oh, and I bought carbon backs for Recaro Sportsters that I did not yet have

Swapped in a new android radio because I stole the pioneer out of this car and put it in my R32 so I could have Apple car play and an aux for that 2500 mile trip. I love this new unit, it’s super capable and the big screen is a very nice touch!!

I also started tidying up some LONG OVERDUE things in my interior that were simple but I never gave any time to. I swapped in some black airbag tags, as well as black seatbelt sliders. SO MUCH BETTER!!

I also purchased some new audio equipment for a sound system that I am working on for the car, since I am getting my trunk built this winter and figured I’d like to incorporate some more bass / amps on display in the trunk.

Also, I got the tires on the LM’s and put them on the car. Super stoked to be back on LM and they look amazing!!! Very happy overall

I started working on the speakers as well! I retrofitted 6.5 inch woofers into the oem housings to ensure a proper fit. This was definitely the best way to tackle this. Also, after speaking to the person who’s building my trunk, Draggin Style Customs, he thought 3 subwoofers would look better than 2 in the back window, so the last photo is a mock up of how it’s going to look with 3 8’s installed

More random photos from a cars and coffee, dream ride show, wolfsgart, and some miscellaneous driveway photos of mine and my dads cars.

I also started running the wires for my sound system. I ran the power, remote, and wires for the front speakers to the amp down the driver side, as well as cleaned up wiring from when I ran my air management years ago since I had tucked them down the side, but decided to move them way under the carpet for a better fit

L’oe show photo dump! Happy to have been awarded top 15 at this show! And it was huge, tons of cars, lots of great builds!

Also, I picked up some Recaro Sportsters for the carbon backs I already bought

More mods / some memes friends made of me lol

I picked up a reverse camera for the head unit, since it had a can bus decoder and every time I put the car in reverse the unit would try to display a camera on screen. I don’t need the camera per se, but I figured since it was so easily integrated, and I needed to run more wires under the carpet, why not, right?

I also swapped in new visors that my fiancée got me for my birthday that didn’t entirely suck! My old ones were in the car when I bought it and the trim job was super subpar. Happy to have oem retrimmed black visors now!

I also swapped in new door plastics and window buttons. My fiancée got me the RS4 door handles for Christmas, and I lazily didn’t install them. I took it upon myself to also order new plastics for all 4 doors, and 8p s3 window buttons that are aluminum tipped to flow with the interior. Super happy with these subtle details, they go a long way!

And also, installed the oem fit rear view camera

Annnnnd we are finally caught up!

My friend gave me some Audi cuff links and i am 100% wearing them at my wedding in just over 2 weeks!

I also got my air tanks back from Lloyd’s GA - I had them finished to match my wheels. So stoked on this!

And then just a couple of other photos from other random events.

Enjoy! Maybe I’ll learn to be more consistent again with updating this lol

You’ve got that right lol… thanks again for the help homie!

Now I need to figure out where all of my coolant is going. A friend of mine mentioned he sent an oil sample to blackstone and they confirmed he was burning it. So I’m curious and scared to see what they say about mine

Nice work Joe! I just recently re-did my ABS wiring on my retrofit. No longer having issues. I feel your pain though!

    Looking spectacular as always!
