Add the links so we can help you out. $500 for the wheel doesn't sound right for a flat bottom.

switch the currency to USD. it's ~$500 for many of the wheels and $552 for the airbag. I have no idea why it's $700+ for the OEM Audi RS5 Flat Bottom MFSW - Perforated Leather + DSG Paddles (http://www.cars-equipment.com/www/en...bottom-mfsw-2/) and only $552 for the RS4 version (http://www.cars-equipment.com/www/en...g-flat-bottom/).

can anyone answer why it's a $200 difference?

Anyone know is a b8 s4 wheel would work on a B8.5 A4 As far as the controls go? The wheel in looking at doesn't have a nav button like my stock wheel.

I see that some of the wheels have a forward-back selection button... any chance that can be swapped into our A4s?

    Exclamation Watch out - unprofessional/unreliable www.cars-equipment.com

I am having some really NEGATIVE experience with www.cars-equipment.com, one BIG PROBLEM and wanted to share to pre-warn potential customers.

I've been trying to contact the company via email and phone without any reply for over 2 weeks (needed to order slightly different item and according to the website they are eager to provide other). There is no "out of office" message on the phone or email. There is absolutely nothing on the website about vacation period or similar! Very frustrating to say the least!

At some point I received a vague answer and decided to take a risk and place an order. As a result I received WRONG steering wheel (with paddles instead of without).
Also there is hand-written "Zlikvidovan" on the wheel which can be translated as "Liquidated". Could it be a sign that it did not pass QA at he factory and was directed for disposal?

Now it's been a week trying to reach them via phone, email, on-site chat in order to get instructions how to exchange the item with the correct one! NO REPLY again except a short one "Can you send back?" Sure i can send back, but when i ask "Who is paying additional postage costs to send it back and forth" - NO REPLY!

Let me be diplomatic (not to violate the forum rules) and say that I am upset and frustrated! I have not had such bad experience in years, never at all in fact.

No wonder these guys do not provide PayPal among payment options, because with PayPal a customer would have much more protection in terms of exchange and return.

Be careful and consider all risks before ordering from www.cars-equipment.com!

I had similar issues with this supplier to. I've tried to tell people repeatedly that you get what you pay for when it comes to this stuff. There has to be a reason why companies and eBay sellers sell parts so cheaply, leftover stuff, parts that didn't pass quality control, superseded airbags. wrong parts and when anything goes wrong they just ignore you and provide zero service. Looks like that even happened to the OP that got the wrong badge with his order.

I ended up stuck with junk I couldn't use. Use a trusted source and you get what you pay for, new, genuine, useable parts and service/communcation to boot.

Hopefully they actually help but I doubt it from my experience.

Got a new wheel plus airbag, and I'm trying to get the old steering wheel off. My issue is my steering wheel doesn't seem to have those two covered tabs that the torx screws are hiding behind. I can't really seem to any screws or tabs.

Anybody with a B8.5 have any tips?

Heres a pic of my steering wheel, pretty sure it's a MFSW 4 Spoke.

B8.5's doesn't have torx screws. They replaced them with two metal clips that need to be depressed with a flathead (or similar) while simultaneously pulling the airbag outwards.

Thanks! I assume these clips are in the gap between the airbag and wheel?

Edit: Found a DIY that works, thanks

So, I thought I had most of my compatibility questions answered, but I guess I was fed some wrong information. My fault for not double checking, but now I'm looking to where to go next.

This is the wheel I picked up. Everything wired up flawlessly. I enabled the triptronic mode in VCDS and that also went perfect. However non of my steering wheel controls work. I was under the impression the paddles would work, but the rest would not, which I am fine with.

    1. Is it possible to get this buttons to play with the A4?
    2. Is it possible to get new buttons and swap them? Can I use the buttons from my old wheel or would they not have the ports for the paddles to plug in?
    3. Does anybody know which Audi this wheel was made for? Thinking I might just sell it and wait for a used S4 one to pop up.

Throwing a lot of codes after this, but the two that stand out are:
Address 44 : Steering Assist - Open Circuit
Address 16 : Steering Wheel (Steering Wheel Controls) - No Signal / Communication
No Faults in the Airbag Control Module

Edit: Not really digging the size and feel of the wheel, my 4 spoke was thicker. Just going to get rid of it.

The buttons on the 3-spoke are from an C7/C7.5, which are not compatible with the B8/B8.5. The buttons should be the same as your original wheel, i.e. 'iNav' button in place of the * and blank plate next to the left scroll wheel. You may be able to pop out those buttons and use the ones from your 4-spoke if you end up keeping it.

As for thickness, if I remember correctly, the 4-spoke and 3-spoke non-flat bottom steering wheels are the same thickness. For a thicker steering wheel you have to get the flat bottomed version.

My apologies for reactivating this thread. But I am in the market for changing my 2015 S5 wheel. I has indents from a handle.
I like to swap to a wheel with the perforated sides. If I understand correctly, if I want the leather combo I need to get a S-Sline with the S5 badge added?
However, the s-line has more buttons on the left than the S5 stock?

    I have two questions:
1.) is there such a wheel that has the exact same button layout as a 2015 S5? I imagine it is the same as a S4.
2.) Same DSG paddles? small silver/aluminum

Also, does anyone have more experience with this company? Is it genuine Audi?

However, the s-line has more buttons on the left than the S5 stock?

    I have two questions:
1.) is there such a wheel that has the exact same button layout as a 2015 S5? I imagine it is the same as a S4.
2.) Same DSG paddles? small silver/aluminum

Also, does anyone have more experience with this company? Is it genuine Audi?
If you already have a wheel with paddles, couldn't you just swap the buttons to the new wheel?

A4/5 sline should have the same buttons as your car. The A6/7 sline should have more.

I emailed the company and these will fit the A4 B8, if you have any questions just email and ask them. The company said to put what car you have in the notes section when checking out so they can double check to get you the right stuff. They sent me my wheel with the wrong badge but they corrected the issue and sent me the correct S-Line badge.

    Airbag:
    http://www.cars-equipment.com/www/en...audi-a4-a5-q5/

    Bits You Need:
    Torx T30
Torx T55 or M12 Triplesquare Bit

    Bit Set I bought:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    B8 Install:
The airbag is removed by popping two small covers after the back to expose two Torx bolts. These are removed by the T30 bit or socket. This is easily done by having the car running and turning the wheel 90 degrees left, undo one bolt, turn to center and then 90 degrees right and repeat. Put the wheel back to center and shut the car off, no ignition on. Slide airbag out, undo plugs. Undo the center bolt with the T55 or M12 bit, before removing the wheel make sure you look for the alignment markings so you can line up the new wheel in the same spot.

Slide the new wheel on in the same position as the old one removed. Install the center bolt and tighten. Plug in the two plugs for the airbag and control system. The new airbag will push into place and clip, no bolts are required.

If you're adding paddle shifters you will need to use VCDS after the installation

    VCDS:
    16 - Steering Wheel
    07 - Coding
    Long Coding Helper
    Byte 2
    Bit 5 (Tiptronic Installed)

I can't believe it took me this long to find this site and the wheel options they have for a good price. Thanks dtoobin for showing me this site!

Yeah whatever the site says. Can't remember what I got it for but I don't think it was that much. Might have raised prices.
