Key FOB

Got the thinner key yesterday. Started taking it apart to realize that the IC board's are completely different and in no way possible to swap out the innards. I couldn't even get past taking out the 'batter' of the thinner key as there is no way to take it apart; from what I can tell.

Questions:
Do I need to get this key 'flashed' to erase from the previous car it was linked to before I try and link it to mine?
Saw this site that 'flashes' the key fob.

Possible to have it programmed via Vagcom?

Anyone know how to get this key working since I'm stuck?

Here are the pictures of the two key fobs.

As you can see, no transponder chip on the S3 key for me to put in the new key.

Basically, they're working on making a key case where you transfer your board/battery into that cuts down on size and weight. I know MK7 and 8V keys aren't the same, but the general shape and concept is there.
