Installed mine today, took me a little over one hour. Gotherwise it from Bernardi auto parts, they used my VIN to order from Audi. Took it almost a month to get the part but it's working.

I got mine installed today at the dealership - not the dealership I bought my car from. Charged me $160 for install. I was fine with that and will sleep easy knowing if it does anything weird, right back it goes, under full warranty.

While my car was there, I also had them install the resonator delete kit. $160 for that labor too. Again, I was cool with that for the same reason. BTW - I love the resonator delete. It just sounds a tiny bit deeper and louder around town. On the freeway, I can't tell the difference unless you step on it and then it is a little louder. Very appropriate level of sound increase from stock.

I would liken it, as I told my brother, to my C4S with the sport exhaust (PSE). You hit the switch and the baffles open and the car is a little louder, but not obnoxious. He has a C4S with the PSE too so he immediately "got it". The Audi sound increase was similar to that, maybe a tad less than, if anything. Very pleased.

so how did you end up having it ordered?

A limited quantity of the Sportback Homelink packages are available in silver only:

    Homelink Retrofit Package | A3, S3

Unfortunately the sedan and black packages are still locked down to be ordered only by VIN through a dealership that is installing the part.

Getting my 2016 S3 prestige tomorrow, so glad to see all the posts about this obvious oversight by Audi. Oh Audi, you are so silly sometimes. Hopefully won't get any crap from my dealer about installing Homelink kit, of course I could tell them to just keep the car lol.

It's actually much easier than lifting your arm and peering at homelink buttons up in the headliner.
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing your solution, after reading what you wrote and seeing the pics of where you put your garage door opener I realized that sounded like a really great solution so I did the same

No hunting ... I know right where the button is just by feel ...

Checking in on this thread. I've got my 2017 A3 e tron Prestige sitting at the port in San Diego waiting for a radiator hose from Germany, so I've started asking my dealer about getting the part for the HomeLink adapter. They're giving me some push back. Does anyone know if this part is still valid for thee 2017 model?

If you do contact with a VIN I can do some more digging. There are new post-facelift Homelink kits available, though they do not have pricing set as of yet in Europe.

You can PM or email your VIN or anyone else with a post-facelift model that is interested: [email protected]

Has anyone had issues programing the Homelink buttons from the Audi kit with a newer Liftmaster (or similar) garage door openers? I followed the instructions and the light just continued flashing slowly vs accepting the garage door remote code.

Also, I assume everyone's switches illuminate red? Or does anyone have their buttons illuminate white like the later model interiors?

    Thanks all.

i dont have a liftmaster but its pretty tricky at first to program these things. i always get it wrong when i need to program it to a new system.

mine is red. looks like the rest of the interior.

Thanks 949. Do you recall what process worked best for you when programming the buttons?

lolz hell no. the process even with the instructions was still confusing as fuck. i think at the end i had to jump on one leg and tap the top of my head while call out god a few times.

but once you do it, youll get the hang of it but you wont remember it.

I had a similar problem programming my Homelink buttons for a Genie garage door opener. The Homelink indicator would just flash red slowly and not accept the garage door remote code no matter how long or close I held the remote to the Homelink unit.
Long story short; I had to get a new garage door remote with updated firmware so that the Homelink system could accept the door remote code.
