    Hard pedal after Slave install

    Hi guys,

Well I got the engine out and the pivot piece replaced. Also replaced the TOB while I had it open. Got the engine and everything out, but once the slave was bled, it's incredibly hard to push the clutch pedal in. What could be the issue here? I installed the slave cyl with the engine out and everything seemed to be working just fine. The car is still about two steps away from having the engine in, I'm sorta clueless at this point. Honestly I'm ready to push it off a cliff.

    Thoughts?

Is it hard to push, as in it feels like something is binding or being stressed? OR it's just stiffer and feels like it operating normally?
If you have some help you might consider pulling the spark plugs and having someone turn the engine over by hand (big breaker on pulley?) while you operate the clutch repeatedly. You know this by now- but there's very few moving parts in the clutch assembly.
Did you even touch the pressure plate?
You got a new slave cylinder?
Obviously you don't wanna put it back in and have a problem after the first 3 miles. Engine and trans should be FULLY bolted together/ flush before you decide there's a problem.

I put a decent amount of weight on it and it won't press in. All I replaced was the TOB and the pivot piece on the inside. Slave was replaced with a metal one. I left the clutch and everything else alone. Engine went on fairly quickly, and the slave was installed with the engine out. I'll re-pull it again in the morning. It feels like it's in a vice and the push rod isn't moving.

Sounds like the push rod is pushed to the end of the cylinder and there's no place for the fluid to go... be glad you've got a metal one (ask me how I know) make sure the throw out bearings are the same height and the clutch fork isn't bent or the bottom isn't pulled free

I'd guess improper installation. You've maxed out the stroke on the slave cylinder.

I'll pull the motor apart again in the morning. The slave is installed correctly in the cup from what I can tell. It's out of the car so it's really easy to inspect. The plastic pivoting piece was found to be gone and the fork could have been rattling around in there. There wasn't any noise with the bad slave cylinder.

Edit: I did have input from two guys locally who think it's a bad bleed job. I've heard it's a pain and will be referencing the JHM write up.

Double Edit: I got it. incorrect installation.
