Almost ready to pull the trigger on a new s6

    Hey guys

Long time lurker and really like this forum!

As the title states I am close to pulling the trigger on a 2016 s6. I am in western Canada and currently only have one dealership in the city. (another one under construction right now). I have been speaking with the sales guy who tells me the mark up on the s6 is 8%. Currently, through talks they are willing to do 3% off msrp. The dealer has 6 2016 s6 on order, two of them being spoken for. The other 4 I can still make changes to as they have the cars fairly loaded up and I only want the wheel upgrade package.

    I have attached the option and price list here in Canada for the s6. My questions to you as owners or soon to be owners is;

1- Do you know the mark up on the s6? I would have thought they had more like 10-12% built in.

2- Is it reasonable to get more like 6% off?

    Thanks for everyones time.

**Cant figure out how to attach a pic...**

You can get 6% off fairly easily through ACNA on most models (not RS for example) so it's probably possible to get slightly more off if you negotiate hard and they have a need to get rid of something. Might be different in Canada though. Some restrictions on it:

You need to be a member of ACNA for 6 mos. to get the 6% discount (although it used to be waived with purchase of lifetime membership - not sure if still the case). However, you get 6% + any factory money (conquest / loyalty) on top of the 6%.

Many people and dealers include the factory money when quoting discounts but they are really 2 different things IMO. If a "discount" is comprised entirely of factory money that means to me there is no discount at all.

After ACNA and other discounts I got almost 10% off, but I bought mine half way through the 2014 model year. I wouldn't accept anything less than the ACNA 6% even on a new order. Also, if they are a friendly dealership, they won't make you wait the 6 months - I bought a 2 year membership the day I bought my car and they still gave me the discount.

In the US, MSRP is 7% over Invoice on the 2016 models.

This. I was able to get 6%. Dealer really wanted to hold on to that last 1%, understandably.

Not sure if it's an option for you but you may be able to get a bigger discount on a 2015 model. I bought mine for 10% below MSRP recently.

problem is you are shopping in alberta or SK. right? you're paying big-oil markup prices...well with the way things are going, they will be dropping those crazy prices i would imagine soon.

i would recommend researching dealers in vancouver and having a fun drive home. and you're right, they are already making 10%+ on that vehicle at msrp, paying any more than that is just stupid imo. shop around outside ab/sk, maybe even mb and get a better deal.

It is an option, in fact one of the managers is driving a 2014 s6 that will be available in June/July. He tells me for around $80k CPO of course. I just would have a hard time knowing the new one has a fair bit extra to it for only 10K more.

Ya, Alberta. Im am in the real estate world so I see things first hand and I agree with you, more then likely not a tonne of people lining up for 90k + cars. But who knows. I do believe you are right and I will try other cities outside of Alberta.

    Cheers
