I will post better pics and videos when i can. I had the complete Fast Intentions Resonated Catback Exhaust installed on my 2010 Audi S5 4.2L V8 manual transmission car on Friday.
Here are my comments so far.
When i first drove it friday, the exhaust doesn't permeate the interior all that much (which is nice). The V8 burble at low rpms turns into an exotic higher pitched sound at WOT. I only drove the car home so i didn't get a good feel for the exhaust.
Saturday i fired up the car (cold start) and WOW is the exhaust loud...almost boomy with initial fire up when cold (just below freezing temp locally). After the idle kicks down the exhaust is barely noticeable at idle. I took the wife and son for a drive and i was shocked at how much drone there was between 1800rpm to 2100 rpm, worse in higher gears and load (ie 5th gear slight acceleration at 35-45 mph). My wife was not very happy with me as this was her first experience in the car and said that if she had to drive in it for too long she'd have a headache.
Saturday we drove the car around Saskatoon running errands and the drone was noticeable, but what i really enjoyed was when i was able at times to roll the windows down slightly and accelerate...the sound. This is a great sounding exhaust system. I had my little helper take an inside video of the exhaust while driving on a short run. The first minute and 20 seconds or so was with the driver side window rolled down part way, then the remainder of the drive was with the windows up (lots of slush and muck with the snow/ice melting).
Sunday, cold start, again loud, little less boomy. Drove the wife out running errands and there is noticeably less drone in the lower rpm band. The exhaust seems to be breaking in nicely. I will drive it to and from work this week and see if there are any changes. I am hoping this upcoming weekend to get a video of a cold startup on Saturday and will post when i've obtained it.
Overall though, huge improvement in sound, i've even had a few people try and catch up to my Audi to hear the exhaust better :)
