Had an error "Audi Adaptive Light Defective" come up and the dealer traced it back to a defective cornering light bulb- replaced under warranty. So that's fixed. But the service note also said "SVM required coding of 5 modules... coded successfully. "
Now I'm noticing that some VCDS settings are gone, even things that have nothing to do with lights. So far I've noticed TPMS is not working (it doesn't come with my Canadian car but I had it enabled with VCDS), the windows/moonroof control on long keypress and hidden menu access is gone. Interestingly, they seem to have left the gear # display in D and S mode.
My question is whether this is normal to expect for a bulb replacement or if the tech just got carried away? I might bring it up on the satisfaction survey. I've been thinking of buying a VCDS cable anyway as the person who did the original customizations for me has moved away.
And when my warranty is up, do I really need to recode something when a bulb burns out?
