What causes fail ignition coil?

So I got a check engine light after my gas cap housing area was replaced due to the cold weather we had a month ago. They ran the code and also noticed a misfired in one of my cylinder. What could cause fail ignition coil? I'm just glad I was covered lol. I do have a stage 2 tune and did not flash back to stock when I went into dealer.

Moisture, heat, cold. Sometimes they just fail.

I can't comment on other makes but ignition coils have been an Audi weak point for as long as I can remember. My 2004 S4 had two coils fail under 35k miles and all 8 were replaced after that as a recall.

Yeah the 1.8t's in VW's and Audi's had coil pack issues... several updates to it... but haven't heard of too many people having issues with this application...

BMW coils fail like all the time, especially when tuned

A leaky valve cover can cause oil to leak down into plug area but usually that fowls the plug not the coil

There are plenty of recalls for coil packs. They are a known weak point. GM has recalls for coil packs, 'fillyo' said bmw has problems, well audi wants to be in the group too.
