I had been hunting for a b5 or b6 S4 Avant for a year. Push finally came to shove and I had to buy something. The result was that I had run across this 07 A3 3.2 SLine and bought it.

I live in NC. The car was in Ft Lauderdale. I flew down yesterday and drove it 14 hours home....yesterday. Here's what I learned.
    25 mpg averaging 75mph.
Throttle response at highway speeds was outstanding.
High speed braking was outstanding. I came upon stopped traffic on the I95 and it stopped with ease.
A tractor trailer immediately in front of me spit out a truck tire karkus(sp). I was in easy cruise mode. definitely not up on the wheel. the evasive action to miss that tire was abrupt and significant and the car performed marvelously.
I was hit by 3 thunderstorms. One bad enough that many cars went to flashers. The Quattro killed that situation.
Lastly, it has a nice ride for long trips like that.

It is a fantastic package for highway, and still fun in the twisties. Likewise, will keep mine.

the car has conti xtreme's on it. checked the pressures to find the right front under 20lbs and the others between 20-22. I bumped them up to 35 and expect a bump in fuel mileage now.
    still figuring things out.

    Welcome to the 3.2 world!

22 would give you some bad mileage - mind you these 3.2's are always thirsty lol.
