034Motorsport is please to present our new Billet Aluminum Rear Differential Carrier Mount Insert Upgrade for the B6/B7 Audi A4/S4/RS4! The factory Audi rear differential carrier bushings have voids in the rubber damping medium, which results in excessive rear differential movement (twisting) under load. This movement allows for unwanted drivetrain slop (and sometimes clunks) than can be observed when accelerating, decelerating, and shifting.

These billet aluminum inserts are designed to fill the voids in the factory B6/B7 Audi A4/S4/RS4 rear differential carrier mounts, and limit rear differential movement without sacrificing ride quality or introducing any additional noise, vibration, or harshness into the cabin. By filling the voids in the factory mounts, these inserts eliminate the associated slop and ensures that you're experiencing smoother shifting and throttle transitions, and an improved driving experience.

Installation is very simple, can be performed in minutes, and is completely reversible. This upgrade is the easiest and most effective way to limit unwanted differential movement, improve throttle response, and increase shifting performance on your B6/B7 Audi A4/S4/RS4 Quattro.

B6/B7 Audi A4/S4/RS4 Rear Diff Mount Upgrade

Finally got around to installing these (ordered them up during the initial intro price) and they completely eliminated whatever drive train slop I had left. The 034 inserts were a nice finishing touch to the Apikol rear diff mount I had installed already! I have only had them in a few days but absolutely would recommend this mod for anyone looking to minimize notchy shifting. I could def tell a big difference in low rpm shifting where i had a lot of notchiness. As Nick also mentioned in his write-up I would recommend using some lube (I used Wurth Rubber Care) to help install these.

I finally installed mine yesterday. I found it was easiest to remove the rear sway bar to get enough access to properly torque the bolt. The other trick to the install has to do with the length of the bolt. On the opposite end of the bolt, there is an 18mm nut and washer. After loosening the bolt (which ultimately results in removing the nut completely from the bolt), inserting the bushing into place, and then attempting to install the washer and thread on the nut, I found that there was not enough exposed threads of the bolt for the nut to grab with the washer in place (since the bolt was barely long enough). So what I did was first thread the nut onto the bolt without the washer in place, just enough to pull the bolt a little further through. Then, with my ratchet holding the bolt, I again removed the nut, slid on the washer, and then re-installed the nut, tightened, and then torqued the bolt to spec. No problem.

Other than this minor detail, the install was easy.

Thanks for the tip! One trick our techs came up with (they're smarter than I am when it comes to installing stuff) is to back the bolt out so that the nut/washer is off, slip the insert in, then slip the washer between the bolt head and insert.

Once that's done, you use a pry bar (the sway bar is used for leverage) on the bolt head to push the insert in. While you're pushing it in with the pry bar, reinstall the washer/nut on the other side. It seems to speed up the process quite a bit.

Happy Friday! Just helped one of the guys here install a set of these in his car last night. A pry bar and some silicone lubricant makes the job a breeze! I think it took us longer to rack the car than it did to install the inserts.

While the Apikol mount replaces the front-most mount for the rear differential (circled in red below), the 034Motorsport Rear Differential Carrier Inserts install into the two rear-most mounts for the rear differential carrier (circled in blue below), to prevent twisting of the rear differential housing under load, between shifts, and during launches.
