Well with just over 6 weeks after swapping out one of the rear shock with a spare second-hand shock I had the DRC took a dump on the same shock so I'm replacing it with Bilstien B14 coilovers.

I got a good price on them and feed back is there a little stiffer than stock and I can adjust the hight so all good.

Be weary of "a little stiffer than stock", I couldn't do coil overs on my last car (KW V1) which most reviews were : Street friendly, a little stiffer than stock, too soft for track, KW quality etc. It made me not want to drive my car often, and had to take a different car if Wife was tagging along anywhere. If you are single, you're good to go.

When I say firmer then stock I'm taking the standard RS4 suspension SS not SS+, so I'm hoping there won't be much in it with the b14 ' s and the SS+ Suspension.

Loved my RCE Tarmac IIs on my STi, which are a custom valved variant of the KW V3's. Have nothing but positive things to say about them.

How so? Can you specify further? Saying they're junk and that they have tanked really doesn't explain or help the OP.

I've had V3's on my previous S4 avant and now on my RS4. They have performed perfectly. Not sure where you are getting your info from.

Well after 15 bloody hours on Sunday starting at 8:30 am I have finished
and will never do that again on my own, every part of my body is killing me and what could go wrong did go wrong.

Anyway it in and the first attempt to pull off the drive way was met by a crunching and grinding noise oh F@#k what have I do!!! Turns out I left the oil try under the car "thank god". Jack car up remover mulled try, try again. This time no horrible noise until the first speed hump, clunk clunk from the rear offside shock.... now what have I done or forgotten to tighten? So jack up the car all bolts connected..... hummmmm shake shock there's movement, OK I know what it is; top bot is not tighten all the way. Ten minutes all done and im out again..... all seem ok then speed hump and horrendous rubbing from the front "bollocks to this" park car up and a bath and bed.

So wake up early and I feel like I've been in a fight with a bunch of football hooligans and it did not go well for me so phone boss and ask if I can take the day off as holiday.
That sorted and a whole bunch of painkillers and I' good to go. Now I knew what the front rubbing was straight away, it that bloody stupid grub screw Audi deemed was a good thing to have sitting on the side of the arch at the top. So I jack the car up remove grub screw and go for a drive. :biggrin3: :biggrin3: :biggrin3: :biggrin3: :biggrin3:

    So you want pictures

    Before:

    After:

The rear is on the maximum lowest setting (only way to get it in to the car)which I'm going to adjust as its tool low for me and the front is about midway.

Heres a picture of the SS Plus spring colour markings.

Only a little London driving and I will say she feels the bumps a little more for sure but not so much I could not live with just a little more than stock.

I will be the weekend before I will get to see what she like on the open road but for now I'm happy just need to raise the back end a bit, oh and I noted the N/S gearbox rubber gaiter was shot so I will take it to my mates Shop for him to sort it out think I've had my fill of DIY for the moment.

Sorry for sounding like an ass, but with all those issues, do you feel safe driving it, or do you think you should have a good performance shop look over the work to make sure it was done correctly?

One shock was the only thing I messed up and funny enough it was the first one I did after getting it semi ready to put on the car but being confused why the bump stops were not going back in. Spent 30 minutes scoring the net to confirm this was correct and why a tinny "O" ring was the only thing that the top hat sat on to hold it firm i just forgot to tighten it, the delay in time was a combo of check and recheck. The instruction for the kit was shite but the fronts are almost a like for like swap and are straight forward. The hard bit is doing in it without a lift, did my old b5 in around 1.5 hrs before with a lift.

So no I'm happy but it will be gong in to a shop for the gearbox gaiter to be done so I will get him

Does installation of a gearbox gaiter require use of a spanner? :)
