VCDS Coding Help - Tail Light Side Markers

I am trying to figure out the coding to disable the tail lights side marker...

Anyone?




09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 10 Submodule 0
Bit 3 - Set to 0 to disable amber side markers (U.S. vehicles)

This only seems to disable the front...

That code is for the front ambers. I'm not aware of a way to deactivate the rear side markers without upgrading to EU spec tail lights.

Just remove the bulbs...my ubnderstanding is that they are low voltage enough to not give you a dash error when removed.

I removed mines and it gave me a light on the dashboard

take the bulbs out and paint them black then put them back in ?

Enter Channel 210 and Write Down The Number
Channels 209 and 210 - Change to "0" (That's the number zero)

I set 209 and 210 to 0 and the side markers are still on.

So I just tried setting channels 203 and 204 to 0 and it was closer but not quite there. The side markers did turn off but the outer light bar also went out as well.

You have Rest of World (RoW) taillights, ie Euro, and those lights do not have a side marker built in at all.

So I just tried setting channels 203 and 204 to 0 and it was closer but not quite there. The side markers did turn off but the outer light bar also went out as well.

Interesting. Looks like that channel actually powers the outer taillight, but then the signal is passed to the side marker. So it looks internal to the NA taillight itself. If you can get at the sidemarker and pull it or pull wiring to it that would be the only way to turn it off on North American Post-Facelift coupe taillights

Only other option for NA post-facelift coupe models is to replace the taillights with the RoW (Euro) ones and adapt.

Yea. At at least with the 5, you can't disable the sidemarker with the US lights (the side marker and running light pipe are wired together)

Bumping a dead thread to say that the adaptation channel for rear side markers post facelift (for my 2016 s6 at least) was 207 & 208. Changing them to 0 disabled only the rear side markers, and the front ambers disable just like the other models (long coding in central elec, byte 10, bit 3=0).
